About Grant LaVigna, M.A., LMFT

I specialize in working with families who are struggling with the many challenges of raising a child with Autism or other intellectual disabilities. I have over 22 years of experience in working directly with special needs kids and adults, in multiple settings. My philosophy is to work directly with the entire family on strengthening pre-existing coping skills, learning new coping skills, and teaching you how EACH family member has a UNIQUE and IMPORTANT role within the family unit. I have worked in the school setting providing therapy to kids struggling socially and emotionally. I also managed a School Base Mental Health Team. Both have given me a great deal of experience on the challenges kids face in this day and age. I provide individual and or family therapy to kids who are struggling academically due to learning disability and/or mental health diagnosis (ADHD, Oppositional Defiant, Conduct Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, etc.). For over 12 years I have been a member of the City of Los Angeles Crisis Response Team and have worked with people that have experienced a traumatic event or a traumatic “loss”. As the Mental Health Coordinator and Training Coordinator for the team I now train other crisis responders how to provide immediate on-scene crisis intervention to help people who have experienced a traumatic event. I utilize this real world experience when supporting individuals and/or families in the therapeutic setting. I am also passionate about working with individuals and families struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Stress, Abuse, PTSD, Severe and Challenging Behaviors, Victims of Crime, Adults with an Intellectual Disability (Duel Diagnosed with Mental Illness). Because of the tremendous dedication and sacrifice that our Military, Law Enforcement and their families make for all of us, I am dedicated in supporting them anyway I can. For more information or to make an appointment please don’t hesitate to give me a call or email me at grantlavigna@aol.com.
