Glisson Camp and Retreat Center

Summer of 2022 two of three children that we adopted attended Camp Glisson. I had never heard of the camp until it was mentioned Gordons Chapel United Methodist Church. Where the children were attending. It was their first time ever experiencing going to camp. Michael 12 and Kailey 10. Unfortunately our Elijah didnt get to go but in a few years we hope he gets to join in on the Camp Glissonexperience. We as a family are so truly thankful for our Church and for being able to have our children to experience all that Camp Glisson has to offer while being able to fellowship in the Lord. A true blessing for our kids.

Dont send your child to Glissen . My daughter was there two weeks ago and During my daughters stay she experienced a cut on her knee which was on the verge of having stitches and was badly bruised also during this time she also developed a severe sinus infection and by the time we picked her up was very Ill and we were at Childrens Healtcare after hours clinic shortly afterwards. Viruses and bumps and bruises at camp happen and I dont blame the staff for that but their mismanagement of it is all theirs for blame. my frustration deals with the fact when we recieved our first letter from her begging us to come get her when we followed up with the Glissen camp infirmary we were told everything was fine. Later my daughter requested to have them call us again at which time they guilted her from having them call by saying how much money we paid for the camp. That is my call as a parent to make not an 11 year old .So thanks to my childs first trip to Camp Glissen and their negligence on making us aware of the situation we have had a sick girl this past week all of which could have been averted with a phone cal and doing the right thing My daughter has been to other camps before and had great experiences like Camp Strong for life . but not in this case. I pray nothing like this happens with your child however just be aware of this example of how my child was treated. My daughter will never step foot in one of their camps again. I am not a person who takes joy in criticizing others and writing bad reviews but when it comes down to the health of my child and other children I feel the need to speak up so other parents are aware of the way they operated with our family.

Worked here for 3 years and brought groups here as a leader for 4 more.Great place. First of all the camps I have ever worked with Glisson took safety the most seriously. Your kids will be fine here and they have checks and balances to make sure safety is job 1.Second God is moving in this place. Seriously moving. I received my call to ministry here.Third Great for groups. Reasonable prices great facilities and whatever staffing you need.I cant say enough good things about Camp Glisson and all that it has done for me and my life. Seriously great palce.

I had a pretty cool experience. The group I came with wasnt exactly being led by the Glisson Camp itself so I think my experience is probably much different than previous campers. The camp was very relaxing. Loved visiting the water fall. Lunches were okay. Very childish. Definitely felt a little Parent Trap-ish at times. The cabins were clean. Beds uncomfortable. Lots of walking. Good experience overall.

I always love coming to camp and when I leave I look forward to when I can come back next. I have been going to Glisson for 6 years and have never had a bad moment there It is a wonderful caring community of people who make it feel like home.

My daughter and her friend have attended now for 5 years straight. This camp in all of its different forms is great. Our kids come home with much more appreciation for other people more appreciation for time away from their electronics and appreciation for the message they got from the whole Camp experience.

I just went to Glisson this past weekend and it was amazing. i also went last year. every year i attend slr or the spiritual life retreat. i had a lot of fun while i was there and it is definitely worth the money. the food is great your always busy having fun and worship is amazing

Ive been here a number of times over the last few years amazed at the recent upgrades which have made a special place even better. Its a perfect location for small and large group retreats during the year and they run a top notch summer program. Highly recommend

My daughter has attended Glisson for two years and adores it The Camp Counselors are caring and attentive and she leaves missing them. Glisson offers so many activities and with the recent campaign many of the facilities have been enhanced and additional activities added. Looking forward to next summer
