Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA)

Georgia Cyber Academy is a great online public school option for those families that have great learning coach family involvement and partnership. The school provides great learning support and the learning coachfamily picks up from there by supporting the learning supervising and guiding the student in the physical environment. The Family Engagement Team works great with families to make sure they have everything they need. There is a learning curve if you are not technologically savvy as all communication comes via email or the schools portals. My suggestion is to use an email for the school separate from your personal email to make sure you dont miss out on any communication.With both sides doing their part this is absolutely an amazing public school option for school choice.

This was my first year with GCA and my experience was great. Love how I am always informed with events or classwork assignments. The family engagement team are awesome when it comes to helping navigate through the portal or returning back emails and phone calls. All of the staff are polite and friendly. GCA is a great workplace our teachers and staff are excellent I have been in education for over 20 years and GCA has some of the most talented and caring teachers I have ever worked with. If you are looking for an excellent school for your children or if you are looking for a supportive fun challenging work environment GCA is the place for you

My daughter attended GCA for 12 years. The opportunities that GCA has to offer students are wonderful. My daughter dual enrolled in her Junior and Senior year and graduated with her diploma as well as with an Associates in Psychology with a concentration in Science. She so loved the program I have also had the pleasure of working for GCA for 11 years and absolutely love supporting my families.

I have been a Family Engagement Liaison at GCA for the past 5 years prior to that I was a high school English teacher here.The school is a great fit for many families. Teachers are compassionate and really work hard to engagement students and offer them a safe place to be successful.We are the only virtual school that I know of with the Family Engagement Liaison role. We hold our families hands check on them monthly advocate support listen encourage. Great customer support.

I absolutely love GCA as both an employee and a parent of a Senior Even though we are online that does not stop all the awesome events and experiences you encounter. My son is in Dual enrollment and already working towards his college degree. The teachers and support staff are great and always go above and beyond to make sure each student reaches their full potential To me GCA is more than just an online school its like a family

This place is changing my daughters life. Her whole attitude toward school has changed. Shes learning again. In person school wasnt working. Flex Academy didnt work either. This fits. There is so much support. Every person weve had contact with from enrollment to tech has been awesome. Our Family Engagement Liaison Mrs. Moore is amazing... I was so intimidated by the new things I had to learn Im barely computer literate. They made sure I couldnt fail. Im still learning new things everyday. Its only been since 8122. But I cant recommend it enough. Im so grateful for GCA.

I have a love hate relationship with this school. The teachers are great and they work incredibly hard to make sure their students succeed. During assessment week is my biggest issue. I think its totally unfair that my daughter and many other students had homework during assessment week. Not only did my daughter study from Sunday to Friday but she also had homework. I think its only fair to allow the child to concentrate on studying for hisher test because studying for test and homework is a bit much. Also I think it would be great if the assessments were chopped up. For example The reading math assessment should be one week and the science and social studies should be the next following week. Studying everything in one week is overwhelming. I hope its less homework more balance less stressful this upcoming school year.

My journey with GCA started with my very first child in kindergarten. We absolutely loved it and it was a great fit for our family. Success with Georgia Cyber Academy definitely requires FULL TIME engagement from parents as learning coaches As much as I loved it once I began working even from home I reluctantly had to end our journey with online schooling but it gave my children the BEST start The curriculum was far more rigorous than that of the local school and their test scores were on or above level.Grades K-2 are extremely hands on Be ready for that Grades 3-5 are only slightly less hands on and still require an on site learning coach ready to jump in at a moments notice. Middle school through High School can totally depend on your students individual level of maturity self-motivation and self-discipline. Some of my children were fine during the day without me hovering and I was able to check in with them at the end of the day to review grades discuss any hiccups and help them communicate with their teachers. Some of my children required a work area where I could see the screen and verify that they were on task and not YouTube or TikTok or a Google Doc chatting with friends--these kids are savvy. You just have to know your student and coach them consistently as needed until they develop those self-regulating skills.The support here at GCA is next to none EVERY school system needs to have a team of Family Engagement Liaisons If you dont know them--GET TO KNOW THEM They are the support system you didnt know you needed throughout your childrens educational journey

GCA has been an amazing experience for our family. Our Daughter loves it We are very honored to be a part of their program. She has been challenged and excelled at GCA. She is in the gifted program and it has truly been a great fit for her. We would recommend this program to anyone looking to keep their children on task and ahead of the rest.
