Focus Forward Counseling and Consulting - Alpharetta

When signing up for a counselor I was asked to give authorization to use a credit card which I was very hesitant to do for fear of being charged incorrectly. My co-pays were automatically charged to this credit card and were higher than they should have been due to a change in plan year. Year 2022 was higher than year 2023 and the appointment was done the last week in 2022. To my surprise subsequent visits were not only charged correctly but credit was given for the two visits that were over charged. Admins are seldom given way to go so I want to give one now. Way to go

I have been professionally associated with Focus Forward Counseling and the clinical director Dr. Brad Hieger for more than 10 years. As a psychiatrist with a busy medication management I have found the group to be solidly well qualified therapists and is an essential resource for me in terms of referring my patients for psychotherapy andor testing. My patients have always had excellent experiences with their therapists. I have also found the staffs psychological testing reports to be extremely thorough detailed and comprehensive. I highly recommend this group for all who seek counseling or who require psychological evaluations.

My experience with Focus Forward Counseling has been great so far. I reached out via Psychology Today inquiry and received a prompt reply the next business day. I was able to schedule an appointment with Kovita within a week. I filled out my new patient forms online ahead of time. They confirmed with my insurance company that I would be in network and what my fees would be. My billing has been accurate as have their insurance filings. This is an area that some therapy offices struggle with in my experience.I have been seeing Kovita for over two months now and the sessions are helping me. I have had both in person and virtual sessions. Kovita is professional kind knowledgeable and happy. I have benefited from counseling a few times in my life. Although I have had sessions with several different therapists through the years Kovita is still able to help me with ways that others have never tried. I feel like I get a nice balance of understanding and helping me grow with each appointment.I highly recommend this Focus Forward Counseling and Kovita.

Good therapist horrible staff and experience. Charged me twice for my copay after confirming the proper amount with the staff. Bad notifications sent too late to adjust meetings bad billing policies and overall just an uninformed and uncaring staff. Take the advice I was given by their office and find a different provider.

I dont recommend this counseling service for numerous reasons. First I want to say that my therapist was amazing for the time I was able to see her. The office staff supervisor and management are very unprofessional and if you have any type of mental concern I would avoid this business at all costs. I was told by Ariana who works at the front desk that my insurance was covered based off of the member ID I gave her from my insurance card and I even double checked with Ariana that my insurance was in fact covered because I am that OCD before my first appointment with my therapist. I wanted to double check that these therapy appointments were covered before proceeding with my therapist because I am financially independent and wanted to make sure I wasnt going into therapy owing a lot at the end of the day. After several sessions with my therapist I was contacted not once but twice within two minutes by an individual named Emmanuel. I have no idea how Emmanuel was not screened before he was able to work in a mental health business to begin with because his arrogant nature aggressive condescending disposition and dismissive tone were nothing but unprofessional. Even more so when I called the front desk to explain this to Ariana she relayed how I was treated to Christopher Topa and Brad Heiger of which did nothing short of trying to explain my insurance benefits and explaining that my insurance wasnt covering my therapy sessions even though I was told twice that my insurance was not only covering my therapy but that I was also in network with my therapist. Christopher and Brad wanted me to contact my insurance to try and find a solution completely unprofessional when what they should have done is taken responsibility and accountability for focus forward misinforming me and telling me not once but twice that my insurance covered my therapy visits as well as telling me that my therapist was in network. Mental health shouldnt become harder due to the mistakes of a counseling service especially toward those with preexisting trauma and stress. What Focus Forward did at the end of the day was set me back with what my therapist had helped me with caused me more unneeded and unwarranted stress and refused to take accountability for their misinformation. If you need to speak to a therapist and you suffer from trauma stress depression or anxiety do not depend on Focus Forward Counseling because the ironic part is that they will inevitably cause you more distress in the long run.

When I needed to have my son evaluated for dysgraphia I researched different offices which we could be seen at and settled with Focus Forward CC. Harley was very helpful answering my questions and shared all information that she was able to with me. I was able to communicate my needs with Dr. Martin and he responded in a very speedy manner to all of my questions and concerns. It was great to be listened to and feel that my concerns mattered
