I went to family first dentistry last summer because my daughter chipped the bottom part of her tooth off and needed it fixed. While the dentist did a good job, I am frustrated because he told me information about my bill and then changed their mind after the procedure. After the consult we realized that my insurance wasn't covered there, so I told them I would cancel my next appointment. Then the dentist ran out while I was leaving and told me that he would only charge me the $70 amount that I would have to pay with insurance and honor that price. So we went ahead and got her tooth fixed. Now 6 months later they sent me a bill for over $200 saying that is what is left to pay after insurance. They didn't honor the pricing they told me, even after I told them I would just go somewhere else instead. Because of this I do not recommend them, it seems they want to get as much business as they can without regard for what is best for the patient.

Beaming Review
I’ve had ongoing issues with Families First Pediatrics’ billing department. As a divorced parent with joint custody and the primary insurance holder, I’ve been denied access to billing and insurance claim details. They send blank statements and insist I go through my ex-spouse, despite legal documentation proving my rights. Their billing errors often take 6–12 months to resolve, and I’ve been waiting over 2 months for medical records with no response. The lack of transparency and disregard for legal guardianship is unacceptable. I’m considering escalating this to the Utah and U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services. Save yourself the frustration.

Avoid this office. They tell you the price it will be when you make an appointment. Then six months later you get a second bill for three times the amount...

Your experience might look different depending on the type of clinician you choose. Many families prefer working with developmental pediatricians. Others might work with a psychiatrist or another specialist to get a different perspective.
A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.
Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.
