Leadership

Founding Story

Liana Karapetyan, a dedicated professional who once served the LAUSD school district, felt a calling that went beyond the confines of traditional education. Her years in the school district gave her invaluable insights into the diverse needs of children, and she recognized a gap that needed to be filled.

Driven by a deep-seated passion for helping children, Liana transitioned into the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. Starting as a behavior therapist, she immersed herself in the world of ABA, dedicating countless hours to understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by children with behavioral needs. Her dedication and expertise quickly propelled her to the role of a clinical supervisor and, eventually, a clinical director.

However, Liana's vision was grander. She dreamt of an institution where children could receive individualized care tailored to their specific needs. An environment where every child, regardless of their challenges, could thrive and reach their fullest potential. With this vision in mind, she took a bold step, leaving her position to establish her own agency - ERA Behavioral Solutions, Inc. As the founder and clinical director, Liana has poured her heart and soul into making the agency a beacon of hope for countless families.

Liana's journey from the LAUSD school district to founding ERA Behavioral Solutions is a testament to her unwavering commitment to children in need. It's a story of a woman who, at every turn, chose to follow her heart and passion, even when faced with challenges. Today, ERA Behavioral Solutions stands as a testament to Liana's vision, dedication, and the profound impact one individual can have on the lives of many.

Unfortunately, we do not provide diagnoses, however, please feel free to reach out to us for any support in the diagnosis process and we would love to help explain the process in further detail. If you’re interested in understanding the non-verbal experience, we recommend watching The Reason I Jump. If you’re looking for a movie that can help your child understand their emotions, many neurodiverse families love Inside Out. Check out our autism-friendly movie guide here.

For both a scientific and personal look at autism, we recommend reading But You Don’t Look Autistic At All by Bianca Toeps. Check out our full book guide for more great reads.

Hero Elementary is great for the young ones. Songs for Littles is excellent for toddlers learning how to talk. And Ranking of Kings is a great option for anime and fantasy fans. See our full list of the best TV shows about autism and inclusion.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.

High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.

ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.

Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
