Dr. Rees Chapman III, PhD

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Chapman attended Norfolk Academy, then graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria. He spent two years at Hampden-Sydney College, then worked in the service, sales and programming of business machines and computers for several years. Returning to undergraduate studies at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, he completed a major in psychology and a minor in anthropology. Graduate studies were accomplished at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, with Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology. Internship was at the Perry Point VA Medical Center in Maryland, with an externship at the Terry Center for Children in Delaware. During a postdoctoral year in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at MetroHealth Medical Center in Ohio, Dr. Chapman also completed training in gestalt therapy (with an emphasis in group) at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland; he also provided pain management services at the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Relocating to Georgia in 1992, he took a position with the Rehabilitation Institute of Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, providing neuropsychological services. Subsequently, he opened a private practice in Gainesville, which over the next decade moved to Dahlonega.
