FIRST- PLEASE IGNORE THE REVIEW BY MARCUS MITCHELL.To speak of someone so negatively and to try and hurt someone and their business is very demeaning and wrong.Marcus when communication comes about from Paul about your first appointment and what to expect Paul tells you everything that you need to know prior to your appointment He especially lets you know that there is a fee for missedcancelled appointments. Dr Ruiz is not the first doctor to have fees like that. In fact most doctors dentist therapist etc have some type of fee for cancelledmissed appointments.Second Paul tells you that they do not accept insurance They do not accept insurance but they give you a super bill that allows you to submit to your insurance company and you will receive some funds back. To call Dr. Ruiz a saleswoman-that is absurdLastly Marcus it is probably better that your child sees Amy Joy Smith NP in OC. Your energy is too tainted for Dr. Ruiz and her practice. Nobody wants your negative energy around our sick kids or around our sick kids doctor. Oh and Dr. Ruiz IS a doctor not a Nurse PractitionerTake care Marcus Best of luck to you and your family---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Onward and upward..My daughter has been seeing Dr. Ruiz for almost a full year now and she is thriving because of the care and empathy that she receives from Dr. Ruiz. My daughter first saw Dr. Ruiz May 2023. She was in so much pain lost 20 pounds chronically fatigued could not eat or sleep etc. Her pediatrician told me that I must take my daughter to see Dr. Ruiz for care. So we did and we found out that she has SIBO SIFO and all the Mold Toxicities you can think of along with other issues. Dr. Ruiz was available EVERY time we messaged her called etc. Along with the fact that Paul always made sure to answer any and all messages that we sent through the portal and made sure that we were taken care of with our billed invoices so that we could submit our claims to our insurance company for some reimbursement. Now because of Dr. Ruiz my daughter is now working in college full time living her life to the fullest. She has many more amazing days than bad at this point but each week she gets better and better. My daughter has put in the work that Dr. Ruiz has asked of her as a patient to help herself thrive. I owe my daughters improved health to Dr. Ruiz who made it possible to improve her lifeDr. Ruizs energy and intuitive nature is one of a kind. Many people will never understand the love empathy and kindness that Dr. Ruiz offers. From the first moment we stepped foot into her office my daughter and I knew that we were in for something special. Ultimately we knew that Dr. Ruiz was going to make my daughter feel better again and give her her life backThere are not enough positive adjectives to describe my love gratefulness and heart for Dr. Ruiz. But I do know that she is a doctor that cares not only about her patient but about the patients family as well. She takes the time to communicate with my daughter as well as digs deep to find out the answers to my daughters stress and issues.Dr. Ruiz is a part of our family forever now When you get the opportunity to meet and interact with such a beautiful human being you take that opportunity and you never take advantage of that time with such an amazing soulAnyone who gets to have Dr Ruiz in their life and receive her healing hands is beyond lucky
Dr. Ruiz is truly an earth angel. It is clear how much time and effort she has dedicated to help children who suffer from terrible conditions. Hiring her has catapulted my childs healing in ways I was searching for for 3 years. Although her services are higher in cost than some other practitioners it is very much worth the success you will gain with her by your side. Thank you so much Dr. Ruiz
A Dr thats running a business not a practice - heed caution. There is a reason insurance networks will not cover your visits with her.PROs The building was nice and modern Dr. Ruiz was polite in the office while billing us at an extremely high rate.COMs The assistant Paul is the one you will deal with quite a bit filling out all the intake forms prior to arrival. Hes pretty curt and rude. Doesnt give a compassionate vibe off at all. Dr Ruiz is quite the saleswoman. While you explain the case keeping in mind she only takes sick kids with specific needs she seems to always have the perfect test that needs to be ran and the perfect homeopathicnatural medicine to cure that symptom or issue. Shes going to do a very lengthy exam as well. Shes very talkative and can keep that clocking running up with the best of them. Before you know it its been 3 hours and a lot has been talked about and you have a long list of vitamins and medicines that she conveniently has stock piled in her office. You go to check out and it went from a 500 consult to 2500 in exam and medicines. Probably have a feeling when you leave of whats the plan other than to come to another appointment. I never once got a true provider caring feeling from this woman. Has used car-salesman with a litigation feeling when talking to her. We made a phone follow up appointment with her a month later but worked with Paul to get it rescheduled - he confirmed this. However Dr Ruiz herself still called on the original day. We explained we were not in the position to take the appointment and she said no problem but that she would still be billing us for the full hour even though it was a 60 sec conversation. That was a 500 phone call. We have never heard back from this team in over a year. They do not care one bit about treating your child. They just want to milk you for money. If you really want a provider that understands PANSPANDAS and actually wants to treat your child I HIGHLY recommend you lookup Amy Joy Smith NP in Orange County. Weve seen remarkable improvements since being under her care. Do not waste your money coming to see Dr Ruiz.
Dr. Ruiz is one of the pediatricians I have had that I fully trust. This trust came handy when my kiddo was diagnosed with Autisim earlier this year. Even thought I had moved 6 hours away from her place of practice I knew she was the person we needed to see after his diagnosis. Sure enough after working with her for a few months we are seeing big gains in our son. His speech is taking shape and he seems a lot more in control of his body and emotions. We are so happy to have met her. We cant recommend her enough.
We feel so blessed to know Dr. Ruiz. Both of our children are under her care and both have improved so much in their health and wellness. We all love her and the girls are always excited to see her for their visits. She is truly the best She is very thorough in her care and looks for the root causes of our health concerns. Dr. Ruiz is the most knowledgeable caring and compassionate pediatrician we have ever known. She is also always so thoughtful and patient with our girls. We are so grateful for all of the care and guidance she has provided to our family.Thank you Dr. Ruiz There are truly not enough words to express our gratitude
Dr. Ruiz is the best For years I have seen a variety of doctors to help with stomach issues that I have dealt with for my whole life. Every doctor that I have seen regarding these issues have either given no answers or chalked it up to anxiety even though I knew something was seriously wrong. A few months ago my primary doctor encouraged me to see Dr. Ruiz to help with my stomach problems. At first I was wary due to my previous experiences with doctors minimizing my health issues but Dr. Ruiz proved me wrong. She not only listened to my concerns and gave me straightforward answers but she did it with care and love. She treats all of her patients as if they were her own children and gives you every resource necessary to keep good health. Dr. Ruiz is not one of those doctors that simply orders you to do things that make no sense. She gives reason for every action and works with you to ensure that your health plan fits into your life and allows you to truly heal. I cant even express how grateful I am to have Dr. Ruiz in my life. She is not only a fantastic doctor but an even better person. If you have dealt with health issues and have gotten no answers or explanations I encourage you to visit Dr. Ruiz because I guarantee she will give you what you need to ensure that you are both healthy and happy.
We could not be happier with our experience with Dr. Ruiz We have only been under her guidance for a few short months and our son is at his best health that we have seen since he was diagnosed with Autism less than a year ago. Her vast knowledge in the field of integrative alternative medicine has been a key component in helping our son heal from many things that we thought we would never progress from. We will continue to only see her for all of his needs as our journey continues. We truly feel cared about and each visit with her office we feel welcomed by everyone Highly recommend
There is no one else I would rather my child see. Dr. Ruiz never stops working caring or researching alternative ways to heal every person under her care. Since taking our son to her for the first time a few months ago my son is experiencing the world in a completely new way and so are we. She is the most amazing doctor weve ever had the pleasure of working with and the results that we see in our son are her doing. We will never look anywhere else and heap praises on her to everyone we can.
Words cannot express the gratitude our family has for having found Dr. Ruiz. Her knowledge and skill is second to none yet just as important and notable is her genuine deep care for her patients and their families. She goes to great extents to ensure every need is met. She is thorough and meticulous in her treatment and care for her patients. She leaves no stones unturned she LISTENS intently and devises treatment plans WITH parents ensuring everything is properly discussed explored and clearly understood. She helped heal our son and continues to take amazing care of all our kiddos The phrase and notion of going above and beyond describes Dr. Ruiz so perfectly. She goes out of her way to provide the absolute highest level of service and care for her patients and their families and in return our children absolutely adore her Never any complaints or grumbles when its time for an appt in fact we all see it as a treat to get to see Dr. Ruiz
Dr. Ruiz has been a savior and blessing for our family. My son was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition. We inquired and asked if she could help and before our first visit Dr. Ruiz researched and was already prepared. Healing his gut and reducing his inflammation has been key to my sons recovery. He is now in remission and living a full active life. Dr Ruizs attention to detail and care was so refreshing after months of various doctors visits. Highly recommend and would trust her with the care of any child.
Frequently Asked Questions
A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.
- Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
- Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
- Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
- Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.

1 in 36 children is diagnosed with autism according to the latest reports.
Here are some reasons why:
- Medical professionals understand autism better. More doctors are trained to test for autism and other developmental and language delays.
- The definition of autism has evolved in recent years which means that an autism diagnosis covers more conditions to help more people get the services they need.

Yes, but there is room for improvement. We don’t have a single, perfect diagnostic tool for autism and there are a lot of factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis. There are a few “gold standards” that are used for diagnosis.
Your pediatrician might be able to administer screenings, but most general doctors are not trained to formally diagnose autism. They might refer you to a qualified diagnostic clinician which include:
- Developmental Pediatricians
- Child Psychologists
- Child Psychiatrists
- Pediatric Neurologists
- Pediatric Neuropsychologists
Your experience might look different depending on the type of clinician you choose. Many families prefer working with developmental pediatricians. Others might work with a psychiatrist or another specialist to get a different perspective.

The main role of developmental-behavioral pediatricians is to evaluate kids who aren’t developing, learning or behaving the way their peers are. You might be referred to one after an evaluation through school or from your state-run early intervention program.
These specialists can help you understand certain behaviors you’re seeing and come up with a diagnosis. For example, if your child acts up at school and in other settings, you or the teacher may suspect your child has ADHD. But there are other issues that may look like, such as anxiety. And many kids will have more than one issue.
