I am extremely thankful I had the opportunity to work with Juliet at DREDF. She went to work right away went above and beyond my expectations and delivered results in a speedy manner. Before I met Juliet I had little hope. Juliet completely changed that for my child and I. She is delightful to work with highly knowledgeable and dedicated to her work. I learned a lot from her in a short amount of time. She is truly the best advocate out there Many thanks to Juliet and DREDF

T042424 Involved in a terrifying ongoing situation in a City of Eugene Oregon homeless program for which urgent intervention is badly needed. Having exhausted all possibilities local and state from citycounty agencies to Gov Kotek whose staff on multiple attempts to contact her and in spite of her executive orders sent us on wild goose chases ignoring us altogether one of my caregivers reached out to DREDF with explicit info enough for prima facie. DREDF brushed us off advising they only got involved in matters of policy. So DO NOT BELIEVE DREDF WEBSITE propaganda that they advocate for high profile cases let alone disabled individuals or families.Have yet to locate a government department an agency or organization that actually does what they advertise. Should be against the law - especially if taxpayer funding is involved.

I was really saddened by the behavior of one of their advocates at a recent meeting. Advocates can play such an important role in empoweringeducating parents and fostering communication between home and school. Instead an advocate from this group JB talked over team members barely left space for anyone elses voice to be heard including the parents scoffed at school team members ideas and input and laid standards out she didnt even hold herself to. For instance a team member who has to share an office space was demanded to switch locations during the meeting despite attending with earphones in. Meanwhile the advocate took the meeting from home with their family member sat beside them during our confidential meeting. Ive referred families to DREDF in the past but this left a bad taste in my mouth. I wont make the referral again and would encourage families to seek support from agencies with more professionalism and sensitivity. Family Paths or Through the Looking Glass have been wonderful to work with and families tell me of their great experiences as well.

I visited the office in person seeking some guidance with a particular matter that appears right up their alley. The person there advised me that they werent in a position to do so however they were pleased to discuss the matter with me well enough to take notes to be delivered to someone who is more qualified and in a position to assist me.However I only got a brief email from that person simply declining me due to staff shortages and the like only suggesting that I might seek remedial measures via Small Claims Court.I could have spared myself the time and effort of recounting the matter at some detail for those notes. And at least a phone call in response might have been a nice touch.Their website paints a rather more assertive and capable picture of their outfit.

I cant thank Juliet and DREDF enough Juliet is empowering me to be a successful advocate for my child. I left our first conversation feeling like the weight that had been suffocating me for months was obliterated and i can breathe again. Her natural ability to educate in order to feel confident and hold my own in meetings re my childs education is a priceless gift. Knowledge is definitely power and she has me feeling like my child and I are no longer at the whim of those that cant be bothered. Thank you again Dua S

I called you them when they send me an advocate I told her about an incident happened to my son at school and she made feel little because she was like why you didnt call for help. But instead of hearing the story I didnt request for you to help me with incident. I was just telling her I was looking for his problems with his education. She said you dont need an advocate you need an attorney and I called the attorney at Adam Esq and they said you dont need an attorney you need advocate. I texted her back she said you need an attorney. I was frustrated and confused. I told what I should say but when she was talking with me like if I was an ignored. Excuse me Im an educated woman but Im not an expert in education law. Shame on all the people who think they can treat bad to a special need moms.

What an amazing parent resource. The attorneys advocates and staff at DREDF have been on the front lines in challenging ableism for over 40 years. From high-stakes litigation to parent trainings and student advocacy DREDF continues to champion the goals of equality and civil rights. Bravo

I spoke with 2 different people for 2 different reasons. The 1st time I think it was somewhat helpful. But the 2nd time brought me to tears. I was seeking clarity but ended up with confusion and frustration. I honestly regret recommending them to other parents in the past hopefully they had a better experience than I did.
