I have extensive experience working with couples, adults, children, adolescents and families. I'm committed to dealing with people in times of stress and work with them empathically to help them resolve personal and interpersonal conflicts. It is very gratifying to see people come into my office in the worst pain of their lives, and develop effective ways to deal with their challenges. I have worked in the Child Psychiatry department of New England Medical Center, and served on the faculty of Harvard and Tufts University Schools of Medicine and Simmons College and Boston University Schools of Social Work. In addition to my clinical and consultation practice, I have written and presented on a variety of topics including couples therapy, step and blended families, divorce, single parenting, disordered eating, child and adolescent development, empty nesting, grief and trauma. I consult to school systems, parent groups and mental health clinicians nationally. My background is psychodynamic, but I am interactive in my clinical work. I incorporate many different approaches and techniques into my practice where indicated, including (but not limited to) role playing, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodrama, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I have a systems perspective. I love my work.
