Emergency department pediatric waiting room is filled with sick adults sleeping across benches with blankets One of the nurses swabbed two of them after saying You didnt get swabbed yesterday while me and my 12 yr old daughter who was is extreme pain had to stand by the door after realizing one of them was literally master bating and all the ER nurses told us they didnt know what the people were doing there I wish I read the reviews before coming. Im still in the room waiting and its 430 am. Im going to add pictures on my way out.UpdateAfter all of my complaints they moved a majority of them from pediatric before I could take pictures. I also heard one of the nurses say to the other we will have to call the police there are no security around. Two police trucks were parked out front but no security to be seen Ive never been treated so poorly at a hospital in my life never mind in pediatric. Everyone in the emergency room should be ashamed of themselves. One of the most ignorant male doctors Ive ever seen. I had to ask my daughter if she felt comfortable or if she thought we should leave and she thought we should leave we ended up having to walk out. Shes in pain and didnt trust the doctor and his response was ok leave

I get the wait I understand but itll be nice if they send a nurse to check vitals while they can. Why is it all the elderly are getting called back to back and the kids. I honestly thought its was pediatric hospital

I strongly believe that improving customer service and reducing wait times should be a priority for Umass medical CenterPatients deserve to be treated with respect empathy and professionalism. Clear communication regarding wait times and proactive efforts to minimize delays would greatly enhance the patient experience and restore confidence in the hospitals ability to provide quality care.

i think that the lack of responsibility of the staff of not attending the patients asap was very bad. many elderly people are there wasting 7-10 hours waiting for doctors to come and attend them or give them water or food. it starts to become de human. the emergency rooms staff only came in every 2 hours to check pressure to make sure they were at least okay to sit down. many patients starving thirsty and feeling so incredibly sick or cut being in such a fragile state. i hope that a new generation of doctors who are well educated for their profession who truly love their profession with love and understand the importance of it come and make a difference. i arrived there with a heart problem that i was about to have a heart attack and i am 8 hours waiting for someone to attend me.

My wife was transferred in to UMASS Ortho with a broken leg. We thought she was coming in as an Ortho patient but they had no room here her. Ortho put her in the hallway of the ER for 17hrs while negligent nurses refused to give her pain meds or take her to a trauma pay so she could have the privacy to use the bathroom. This experience has been a disaster through and through. If you care about your loved ones do not take them to this facility. Most all individual care providers have been pleasant. But their systems are broken- from visitor check in to the intra department communication and scheduling. I have so much more to say but have no more energy after the life has been sucked out of my family.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this hospital. This place is horrible beyond words. The way they treat children is simply unacceptable. You will get mediocre care. No one seems to listen or know whats happening it feels way worse than a hospital in a third-world country. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else.

Waited in Pediatric ER for almost 19 hours before being assigned to a room. Honestly miss the ER--have to share the room with another baby that sounds like its being tortured and only one recliner which my husband and I were told we would have to share if we both plan on staying overnight. Had a recliner and bed in private ER room. And ER nurses were more attentive. Please send us back to the ER Nurse here is nice but weve been here over and hour and she still hasnt set our son up with his IV even though his whole issue is that he needs to be on antibiotics for the next 24 hours. This place is crazy.

The experiences here a very mixed bag.Vascular gets five stars Dr. Judelson and NP Jeffrey Smith are a top notch team. My uncle had fem pop bypass after sustaining foot injuries that werent healing. Dr. J also known as the Vein Queen did stellar work.Podiatry also gets five stars as it was Shannon Murphy who recommended he be seen by vascular in the first place. She is very attentive and personable definitely a good combination to have.Cardiology gets four stars Dr. Theo Meyer is very empathetic and understood what needed to be done vs what was not indicated. He even visited my uncle post-op to check in. The minus star is for the communication at the cath lab who didnt schedule the correct labs even after speaking with them twice. The specialty pharmacy also gets four stars and every one of those stars goes to Amy. She is very understanding and proactive regarding Medicare billing and reaching out to external entities in order to best address prescriptions. The minus star is due to the fact that they were able to provide a medication that is administered via home infusions but do not carry the supplies needed to deliver that medication into the patients body. Not sure what the point of carrying the med is if the patient has no way to use it.Neurology. Oh neurology. You get two stars at best. The excitement that Dr. Danielo had when she prescribed the infusion therapy to my uncle means nothing when she completely mishandled the necessary referral forms to have the prescription provided. Ive been dealing with Medicare issues for over a month because of her. Meanwhile my uncles faculties have reverted to pre-trial levels and all she said was not to increase the steroids. We wouldnt even be considering that had she done what she was supposed to do in the first place. Ive spoken to more than one assistant at that department who failed to deliver messages properly or had no idea what I was talking about when I called. Finally patient advocacy. What a joke. I called on a Friday and the person who answered said she was passing my info to an advocate who would reach out on Monday. This was weeks ago. I called a second time to inquire left a voicemail and heard NOTHING back. Ive been doing so much work to advocate specifically for my uncle and that department could have helped but have been totally useless.
