About Community Access Unlimited - Main Office

Founded in 1979, Community Access Unlimited is a Union County-based nonprofit that serves people with disabilities and at-risk youth across New Jersey. We give a voice to individuals who historically hold little power in society, assisting our members with housing, life skills, employment, personal finance, relationships, civic engagement, and much more. With more than 3,000 members and growing, we will never stop striving to create an all-inclusive, accessible world where everyone can lead a fulfilling life as part of the greater community.

This place is horrible. Ive lived here twice and each experience is worst than the first. Its not so much the staff but really the people who are hired to run things managers and directors. In my time being in CAU there are only 3 or 4 people who were actually nice and actually enjoyed their profession. If I can put 0 stars I would though. Its really a shame that people invest and sponsor programs like these without really knowing how these things are run and how the people in these programs are treated.

July 20 my daughter has been there almost 4 months have I been somewhat misinformed thought the place was great until my daughter called me and told me that she should not tell her mother about her Dr. visit today. also was accused by a young worker by the name of Briana that I cursed her out which is a lie. Me and daughter were both present. So far I hv not been approach about that .but looking for some form of retaliation the reason I want this over with. A child with special need bad business. She begged me not to say anything because she afraid especially of Briana. I hope this matter is looked into as Im worried about my daughter.

This organization purposefully spit on my grandma and was very rude to her throughout the family support group.

My director Sheila McDowell was a good supervisor she made sure things were done. She would investigate any problems with the program. I have problems with the agency the pay should be increased and the agency should hire divers to take the consumer and staff around. I got no extra cash for insurance which is higher when you have to used your car for work and drive people around. They need to hire van drivers. I did appreciate that in the meetings they give gifts and a good meal. Sometimes the staff may need help with some of consumers I got hurt on the job working with difficult consumers. The staff should not have to remove snow they should hire snow removal staff. The staff is responsible for too many things for the pay. I worked there for more than 3 years. I left there making 10.50 per hour. This was my part time job. I did like my department and working with the consumers. I made sure they got good service.

They really saved me in a rental crisis. Mr. Tavera is so thorough and kind. I truly appreciate all the help they did for me and how once I got a meeting it went fast and smoothly. He was very kind to my children.
