Introduction
Hi there! My name is Colleen, and I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist with 8 years of experience based in the East Bay Area. I’m dedicated in helping children learn to engage, communicate, and express their autonomy. My knowledge and expertise stems from my experiences in supporting children from birth to 16 years of age across various settings including early intervention, private practice, non-profit clinics, private school, and an outpatient rehabilitation setting.
My therapy approach is patient- and family-centered and strengths-based. Children learn and thrive best in the most naturalistic environment. My role is to meet a child at their level and empower families with strategies that will allow them to better support their child’s speech and language development regardless of the setting. My sessions are centered on connection, compassion, and practical education that are readily applicable for families to integrate into their daily lives.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two fur babies (my bunnies, Lola and Teddy!) and weekend getaways with my husband or exploring hiking trails all over Northern California.
What words would you use to describe yourself?
Collaborative
Emphathetic
Approachable
I‘a describe myself as collaborative, empathetic, and approachable because they guide how I work each day. Progress in therapy happens through partnership; I work closely with caregivers to set goals and achieve consistent home practice. I strive to understand every child’s lived experiences so they feel seen and understood. Meeting children at their level helps build meaningful connections that lead to positive outcomes.
I consider creating a fun and engaging space a priority, where children can thrive and families feel comfortable expressing concerns and asking questions.
Who are you best positioned to serve?
I’m best positioned to serve young children, especially those six and under. While I’ve worked with clients from birth through young adulthood, I’m especially drawn to early intervention, where I can support language growth from the start. I’m trained in Hanen programs like It Takes Two to Talk and More Than Words, so I enjoy coaching caregivers and building strong home routines. I also have passion for AAC and introducing multimodal approaches to communication for late talkers and neurodivergent children.
