My daughter going to CAC for over 3 years now . We didnt see much improvement first couple of years but as soon as Taylor became her BCBA we have seen improvement. Taylor is very hard working and extremely supportive. I wish she could have been our bcba for some more time

My son is coming up on his 3rd birthday and has been attending CAC in Round Rock since August of 2023. Going into ABA therapy was scary because of the mixed reviews about the therapy itself. CAC has been an absolute blessing from the first contact though. The billing staff are knowledgeable and efficient. The therapists and clinic directors are kind understanding and thoughtful. My sons BCBA Jenna is a total rockstar. I could spend the rest of my life talking about all of the great things about CAC and not get to them all. My son LOVES going to CAC every day. He is excited to go in and is happy as a clam when we pick him up. I cannot recommend CAC enough

We were with CAC for 5 years and i dont think there would have been a place better for my son. they truly helped us through so very rough times- walked us through EVERYTHING. we had no idea what autism was until my son was diagnosed. when the time came for ABA i was so lost and confused but CAC was a Godsend. they helped us through every step of the way with insurance and then they grew to love my son. we will greatly miss seeing them every week but we could never thank them enough for what they did for my son and personally for me as a mom just trying to make sure my son had all that he needed.

I owe so much to this therapy service. The staff is so nice and caring. They have shown a great interest in my daughters well-being. They are very excited to work with her and my daughter loves them so much She is always so happy when we pull up into the driveway she loves coming to school Her analyst schedules regular meetings to keep me updated on her progress and upcoming goals. We have had an amazing experience all around. They do have different therapists sometimes but turnover is normal in any job. Also it has taught my daughter how to be around differentnew people and still be ok.

You stand outside for 10 minutes waiting for the therapist. They change the therapists all the time and Shannon in billing is a nightmare.

CAC has been so amazing with our son and we have seen so much progress in the 5 months that he has attended. If you suspect your child is autistic give them a call to start the screening process. Many parents dont know where to start and CAC made it so easy for us to navigate with our insurance company. Our son loves going to school and he has felt comfortable with all of his analysts. We are in constant communication with his team and able to communicate any concerns freely and know that they are being heard. My only complaint is that billing has sent us incorrect invoices that we find out are incorrect after weve already paid. So weve had a few surprise balances after we had already budgeted the original amount.

Our child was diagnosed by RRISD with ASD but we are searching for a true medical diagnosis so that we can qualify him for ABA therapy. We called CAC and made an appointment to do a tour with the director on Presidents Day. We did so and filled out informational paperwork giving her our insurance information. She told us she would verify our insurance and call us within a couple of days. NEVER HEARD a WORD. I called back on Monday the 20th and was told that the Director said she would call me back in 10 minutes. NEVER HEARD BACK.Its bad enough to get the devastating news that your child is Autistic. But to be completely dismissed by a service provider when you are trying to get help for your child is inexcusable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Speech therapy is almost always recommended for autistic children since many people with autism have difficulty with social communication. Even if a child is very verbal and says a lot of words, they might need to work on communication skills like:
responding to questions
starting or ending conversation
changing conversation topics
using gestures like pointing
understanding other people's body language
Speech therapy is a big focus in early intervention for autistic children and is usually the starting place for recently diagnosed kids. There is a critical period in the brain for language development and so, it's really important to teach language and communication skills as early as possible, especially if there are any delays in that area. Your child will learn effective ways to communicate which will help them grow into more independent and confident individuals.
It might be obvious when a child struggles with speaking —they are very quiet, say only a few words, or don't speak at all.
Spot speech and language delays like a doctor here.
The goal of speech therapy is to help your child communicate effectively with other people across all environments. This may take the form of using gestures, simple signs, verbal speech, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Some other common things speech therapists can help with:
Nonverbal skills, such as signs or gestures
Forming speech in a clearer way
Communicating thoughts and feelings clearly
Understanding and responding to questions
Discerning facial expressions and their corresponding emotions
Noticing and understanding body language
Feeding and swallowing
Stuttering
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.
High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.
ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.
Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!
The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.
When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.
Here are a few alternative options to consider:
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): CBT helps by identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It's useful for those dealing with social anxiety or difficulties. CBT addresses cognitive patterns and provides strategies to manage social challenges.
Group therapy: Group therapy offers a supportive space where individuals can practice social skills. They can feedback from peers and a therapist. It allows interaction with others who understand and learn from each other.
Play-based interventions: Play therapy or play-based interventions work well for younger children or those who learn through experiences. Play activities target specific social skills like turn-taking and problem-solving in a safe and engaging setting.
