Introduction
Hi, I’m Carlie, a speech-language pathologist serving clients across the lifespan (from 18 months through adulthood and geriatrics) in San Diego, CA. My approach is strengths-focused, functional, and centered around each client and their family. I’m especially passionate about alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), speech and language development, and aphasia. My goal is to make therapy motivating and meaningful while helping clients communicate more confidently and connect with the people who matter most. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, needlepointing, and exploring the beach, local walks, and new restaurants.
What words would you use to describe yourself?
Patient
Attentive
Engaging
I strive to create a therapy environment where clients and families feel comfortable, supported, and heard. I’m patient because I believe communication takes time and that every person deserves the opportunity to express themselves in their own way. I’m attentive to the small details that can make a big difference in therapy and everyday communication. And I’m engaging because I want therapy to feel motivating, enjoyable, and connected to real life—not just like another task to complete. My goal is always to meet clients where they are and build from there.
Who are you best positioned to serve?
I’m best positioned to serve clients across the lifespan with speech and language needs, particularly individuals who benefit from functional, individualized support. I have specialized experience with AAC for both pediatric and adult clients, as well as speech and language disorders and aphasia. I especially enjoy helping clients find meaningful ways to communicate with their loved ones and empowering families to support communication beyond therapy sessions. While I have a broad scope of practice, I’m not as well-positioned to serve clients whose primary needs are feeding or swallowing, as this is not my area of expertise.
