BY YOUR SIDE - Tinley Park

My son has been attending by your side since Jan 2022 he is leaps and bounds from where he was when he started therapy. Im am so grateful to the amazing staff at the tinley location. I cant imagine him being anywhere else. I truly feel they genuinely love my child and are just as excited as I am when he accomplish new goals. They are always transparent with his needs and consistently communicate any concerns that may arise. The most important aspect of the care my son receives is that he absolutely loves it. I 1000 trust this environment with my childs growth

My son has been attending By Your Side for about 7 months now. When I tell you the results are amazing I mean it. My son is non-verbal and autistic. Since attending By Your Side. He has learned several words and some sign language. He is so much more well behaved. It use to be difficult to have structure with my son because he was so active and all over the place. So much so that he was dismissed from 2 day cares before attending. The faciluty is really amazing and clean. They have everything that they need to help the children. The staff is the best part. They are all so friendly and caring. I feel like my son is safe with them. They keep track of the childrens progress and work with them in areas that need improvement. The communication is great. First review that ive written where I dont have anything negative to say. Keep up the good work guys. My son is improving so much and I owe it to you

I am writing this review because it has been 5 months since my family have been with BYS Tinley and I wanted to show other parents how amazing this place is Our 3 year old daughter started care there in November of 2022 after a new diagnosis of autism from Rush with little to no words and tantrums left and right. As a family and with her as our first child we had no idea how to control her behaviors. We live in Indiana and we could not find the help we needed. I started looking in Illinois and found BYS from a former high school friend who took her child there. We now travel 1 hour daily to and from BYS Tinley and weve never been happier to travel Within the past 5 months our daughter has decreased maladaptive behaviors increased speech 75 words and fell into a nice routine with her therapists. I really felt hopeless last summer and now I can confidently say my child has really learned so much there and changed her behaviors for the better I truely recommend this place for ABA therapy Speech OT feeding therapy etc. because all of their services have helped my child Our daughter is so happy to see her therapists daily. We also meet with the BCBAs monthly to track her progress and to address anything that has popped up AND we get daily reportcards on what happens with the therapists.Thank you for all that you do for our family We really appreciate it.EditUpdate 2624 My child is still doing ABAOTSpeechFeeding therapy at this location and she is thriving. We owe it all to her amazing team and her BCBA Lexi. She will hopefully be graduating from ABA in July and she is very much on track now for her age.

Continued from my reviewCoincidentally my child had a follow up with their neurologist and this subject was discussed. She informed me she had sent another letter in detail to by your side. When I received a call from Karen the following day I thought this would be regarding the latest letter from the neurologist and we were going to schedule his assessment finally. Karen reiterated her voicemail from the night before that she was doing so much investigative work and had so many people involved. Karen contacted my childs pediatrician office spoke to a nurse had her go through my childs files for anything she can use for insurance purposes. I have not signed a single document for BY YOUR SIDE to authorize this detective work. Karen read straight off a form and followed by saying let me translate that for you. I have a collegedegree but thankyou. She told me that unfortunately the documents I have wont work for my child to be seen for the assessment. I had it with Karen at this point. I asked WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME She empathized that this was frustrating and I told her no its you who is frustrating me at this point. She stammered to mumble that my child needs to see a developmental psychologist. EXCUSE ME This is the first time this was EVER mentioned to me. So the qualificationsof a pediatric neurologist are not enough I would have taken my child in August if this was EVER mentioned that it was a necessity for enrollment. Now on December15th with days left in the year she wants me to see a different professional which normally takes 6 months to be seen BY YOUR SIDE states on their website they do their own diagnostictesting. What is this Why am I being thrown around in several circles when I am trying to get services for a child in need.This behavior is despicableand I want to WARN every mother out there like me to not be fooled by the sweet voice you initially hear on the phone. I received a call from a different staff member as I told Karen her and I are done communicating. How convenientis it that the voicemail from this member mentioned diagnosticoptions several times Now they want to talk about that Karen please get off your selfgratifying high horse and be upfrontwith parents who already feel completelyhelplessfor their children. Do your job without the narcissisticspeech when you offer to do your actual job.

This is not a review based on the services provided at this facility as I have not made it that far to review. This is a review of the disappointing and misleading process I have been through since Aug 20 of this year. Specifically this is about office coordinator Karen who lacks the professionalism and empathy to lead and guide parents who are already dealing with so much. I was fooled by her bubbly personality at first and as this is something Im having to navigate for the first time as a mother of 4 I trusted her word and her experience that she knew what she was doing. I trusted that the therapy centers in general were at max occupancy because of the influx of remote learning. I accepted that I would gave to wait 6 weeks or so until they hired more specialists. Now I believe all she was doing was buying time as she was simultaneously wasting mine and the services my child could of been having elsewhere. I will admit its my fault I didnt call around but seeing this 5 star google review enticed me to just stuck with it. Karen no im not trying to use that social media name to describe her would call mostly during evenings which seemed like her last call before she clocked out for the day. She would leave ambiguous and vague voicemails when I couldnt take her calls. Usually she needed more information regarding documents which who would be open at that time for me to call and report back to her Karen has self gratifying speech when clearly she is not going the extra mile for me she is merely doing the bare minimum of her job. Emails stating So happy we were able to make time for you and voicmails stating all this investigative work Ive been doing for you is manipulative speech. I am trying to get the best care for my son not join an exclusive country club that Karen is trying to do favors for me to get in.Thats my personal issue. However the main issue is that I have never not once asked Karen about charges prices insurance coverage etc. For the record and for future parents who find themselves at this review I have full coverage BCBS PPO which I have been yet to see any medical provider turn that down on this medical journey we have been on. Finally after months of waiting my son was set to be seen for an assessment that was shelfed indefinitely because Karen was so concerned with documentation that had verbiage for insurance to cover his assessment. To my complete shock I asked why the diagnosis provided by a Pediatric Neurologist from Luries Childrens Hospital wasnt enough to proceed. What more does By Your Side need to see a patient who qualifies for ABA Therapy Karen was insistent that there needed to be a diagnostic report of some 14 pages that went in further detail before he could be seen. Again all for insurance purposes. I did what was asked and I contacted the Neurologist and asked for the report. The report wasnt enough for Karen and By Your Side. This delay was even prolonged because it fell during the week of Thanksgiving. Mind you when you contact the Tinley Park location you will most likely be connected to the Darien Location because they want to make sure you speak to someone. No Thank you How about an answering service for the person I need to speak to. How can you contact a medical professional at a childrens hospital and then complain you havent heard back from a Neurologist when you most likely missed a call that went to Darien Make it make sense please
