About Building Skills for Life

Building Skills for Life provides occupational therapy services for children and young adults. At Buiding Skills for Life, we want your child to have FUN! We engage your child/young adult in activities that he/she enjoys and are meaningful, maximizing the potential for success.

Children grow through exploring, learning, and mastering new skills. Occupational therapists use various techniques and therapies to help children improve sensory processing, fine-motor, gross motor, visual-perceptual, cognitive, emotional, and self-care skills. This can include helping a child learn how to hold a pencil, hit a baseball, dress, play with a peer, organize homework, or improve attention.

Building Skills for Life is flexible in its approach to delivering services and can provide therapy or consultation at home, school, and in our new therapy space in Old Lyme.  Wherever we meet, services are child and family-centered.

Founding Story

Building Skills for Life was established in 2020 by Ine Hubers, when the private school for children and young adults with ASD and other neurodevelopment disorders where she worked, closed its doors due to COVID. The need for home-based therapy increased when schools and programs were online and Ine decided to offer support to parents and children at home. With more than 25 years of experience, she has expanded her business and recently opened a therapy space in Old Lyme. Building Skills for Life hired another occupational therapist and is looking forward to meeting your child and family to discuss how we can help you!
