I am a retired Chief Psychologist formerly at Headquarters of the State of California DSH (Department of State Hospitals a California Health & Human Services Agency) - formerly known as the State of California Department of Mental Health (DMH). DSH is the nation’s largest inpatient mental health hospital system with five state hospitals that provide treatment with approximately 12,000+ clinically diverse staff. In working in public mental health service, I have also been engaged for many years in a part-time private practice that provides psych evaluations & consultations & second opinion evaluations for children, adults, couples & families. I provide psych diagnostic evaluations, polytrauma / traumatic brain injury (TBI) assessments, neuropsych screens, return to work evaluations and assessment related to various psych trauma experienced by children and adults. I also have a subspecialty in assessing & treating various personal-industrial psych trauma & combat-related trauma by specialty intelligence & law enforcement workers & USA military veterans since 1997. Prior to DSH, I worked for the California State Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) & supervised the Death Row (Condemned) Unit, Maximum Security Adjustment Center, Acute-Crisis-Inpatient Units, Quality Management and Improvement Team at San Quentin State Prison & several other prisons. Since 1990, I have also conducted faculty-supervisor-focused trainings, leadership workshops & industrial organizational (I/O Psychology) trainings at various agencies, not-for-profit groups & institutions since 1991. I was trained & worked at the University of California San Francisco Medical School (UCSF), Children's Hospital & Research Center at Oakland, the San Francisco VA Medical Center & Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Northern California.
