Our family moved to IL from NC for our child to attend BBD in Wheaton. From the first time I spoke with Kristen I felt immediate relief and hope. After our sons records were sent to BBD and we had virtual interviews and meetings we moved our family to a place we had never even visited at that time.We have experienced nothing but unending support and compassion from the entire staff. At drop off you can see so many children with different abilities all being taken care of with such love and understanding for each of their needs. The therapists and staff are willing to accommodate the children and parents to a point that seems unending. Our son is non-verbal and began BBD in August with no words and is now thriving. His team Laura DT Kelsey SW Rocio OT Kristin PT Lily and Sinead ST Katie TA Elise TA Abby TA and Sarah TA. is amazing. We receive reports and pictures throughout the day of what he is learning and participating in and I have never for one minute worried about his safety or emotional well-being. They play outside and with different toys and activities. They dont worry about getting messy and allow for the children to be children From the moment Amy greets him in the morning I know that he will be well-loved and well-taken care of. Working with Cynthia and Catarina for ABA therapy he has worked through many of his sensory issues and we have even had a home visit to help us work through some of the struggles we have at home that he doesnt display at school. He is excited about school and always reports back that he has great daysThere is a negative review about BBD and in my opinion it is defamatory unfair and dangerous to the community of people who need a place like BBD. As someone with a child who is unable to speak and express himself many times the frustration comes out in anger and sometimes even violence. If you are sending your child to a therapeutic school like BBD there should be a level of understanding that there are children who have many different abilities and some of them while struggling with big emotions can be violent. This doesnt make BBD a bad or unsafe place this makes BBD a safe place where there are people who understand this behavior and are there to help and keep all the children safe.I am in the lobby twice a day and have been behind the locked doors many times and have heard many interactions. The children are met with patience kindness and respect.BBD Wheaton and the staff that care for the children are exceptional and what every child with different abilities deserves to have.

Sharing this out of concern for children in the program and parents considering it. After a few months at Blue Bird Day my family has seen the sad reality of the program behind the external lovely image. If your child is non verbal they will not tell you the violence that they experience or witness at the hands of other children. My child is verbal and was able to come to me as a five year old and tell me about daily fighting going on for months that not one of their highly trained staff members told me about but later confirmed. In this they informed me of further more severe violence issues in his next classroom he would be going to. I rejected any idea of my kid being subjected to this. When I asked management if other parents knew about these issues regardless of their childrens ability to communicate they deflected and said parents are welcome to come to events every few months and see the school. The violence issues continued until his last day. To which my child came home saying Mommy I wont be kicked and hit any more. I wish I pulled him sooner. Sadly they know our options are limited and moving care takes months. Additionally my childs needs changed as related to the medicaltherapy services received here many times over the time at this school and not once did they reach out. Happily we continued outside therapy that addressed issues. I would be very concerned to send any children here especially non verbal or conversational children. It is not the peaceful warm image presented when the kids are actually in school. They are surrounded by students assaulting others even teachers and self harm at an extremely young age. Parents deserve the right to know what the children are being subjected to and the high risk it puts them in. It is unclear if the staff majority of them are wonderful are complying with management forcing this abuse of power or what the issue at the heart is. I hope they can address this serious problem before more children are seriously harmed physically or emotionally.1017 Please note BBDs response suggested no actual points as to what was not true likely because they are aware I have evidence of everything. I also did not mention any staff by name or children. In fact I said most of the staff is wonderful. Because my review was not positive does not mean it is not true. I wish BBD gave us a different experience I wish nothing but for other parents to know whats going on despite their abilities. Not once did BBD report issues to me even when I asked after a 5 year old reported repeated fighting. Silencing parents who have faced extreme negatives from your program is NOT a solution. If this program is so good then why not improve when problems occur Why blame customers for your problems

Best place for our childAfter a thorough review of multiple facilities similar to Blue Bird Day BBD we found ourselves selecting BBD for our sons special needs as it was the ONLY facility met the highest level of standards that we have as parents. The leadership staff led by Jennifer King is exceptionally attentive and responsive. The OT team including Sara Settimi has made a world of difference against our sons goals. The PT team including Susan Spriet and Carolyn Stoesser have identified opportunities for our sons growth where we previously never noticed. The ST team including Elizabeth Maslona and Sinead Frankel have exponentially increased the amount of words our son speaks in a matter of months. The ABA team including Cynthia Bardell Emily Mutschler Julia Shares and Ainsley Adique is the most top notch ABA team youll find around. To top it all off the social workers and case managers namely Jenn Navarro are always walking alongside you ensuring your child becomes the absolute best they can be Thank you for all that you do BBD. The pleasure has been all ours

Alexis Long has now been our sons OT for the past month and the results have been exceptional In just a matter of a few short weeks our son now drinks from an open cup and is far more regulated during eating sessions. Alexis level of engagement with us communicating suggestions for at-home and results-oriented mindset continuously working with us to update goals has allowed us to be a part of the therapy and provided us with 100 confidence that we have the right OT for our son Thank you Alexis and BBD for all that you do

Outstanding facility with and amazing caring professional staff. So glad we chose this place. We started at Blue Bird Wheaton by receiving a tour from the Director Jennifer. The facility was just outstanding but what sold us was seeing our clingy 2.5 year-old comfortable. Jennifer was so welcoming and kind letting our LO explore his new nest. The office team Kristen Kristi Marcelo keep up the kind and welcoming atmosphere. They are very quick to respond to questions and smoothly coordinate the drop-offpickup shuffle.Even though we dont get daily face time with our LO therapistsand TAs Jessica BA Manuela Marc BT Alexis Linnea OT Alice STDominique DT Jenn SW Susan Akhil PTVanessa Alexis Bansi Sarah TA they give us notes and photos to keep us involved. They have been excellent at providing parent trainingresources so we can continue to work at home with our LO. We are so thankful they are a part of our LO life. Their impact has been incredible.

My son has been going to BBD - Wheaton since May 2020 and his progress has been nothing short of phenomenal. He went from completely non-verbal at 2.4 years old to a little chatter box. He has learned so much and everyone in his life is truly blown away by the progress he has made in the past 7 months. The therapists are angels on earth. Their jobs are hard but they come to work everyday willing and eager to help my child - and for that there are not any words. All of the therapists truly hone in on the childs individual interests and build on that which in turn makes learning so much more fun for the kiddo. My sons team is amazing and I feel 1000 comfortable dropping him off for school and individualized therapy each morning. Danielle Liz Manuela Marc Nina Sara S. Alyssa Akhil Alexis Casey Alisa Justine S. and Julia S. are absolutely amazing They are exceptional therapists and we are so thankful for them. Weve also had two BCBAs Cynthia and Cory and both have been tremendously helpful in planning our sons goals and providing invaluable parent training to my husband and I.Enrolling our son in BBD has been without a doubt the best decision we could have ever made for him. We researched and visited dozens of therapy centers before deciding to enroll our son at BBD full time and not once have I ever second-guessed the decision.
