About BehaviorSpan - Denver Center

websitelinkedin

We are the premier Early Intervention ABA program in the state of Colorado. We are proud to bring this service to children and their families in Denver and Aurora, Colorado. We specialize in effectively teaching children recently diagnosed with Autism and Developmental Delays foundational skills to help them excel, including: communication, social skills, and daily living skills. Our program is exclusively built to help children ages 1-5 yrs old: everything about our centers, highly-trained staff, and clinical model is geared towards providing compassionate, effective care to children. We help children to learn quickly and maximize their ability to utilize learning opportunities as they grow and go to school. The program is based on 4 principles: intervening early; providing each child with individualized care; results-driven treatment; and providing intensive treatment so that later supports aren’t needed. On average, it takes about one year in their program for a child to ‘graduate’- ready to go to school or preschool. While these results aren’t certain for all children, the critical step is to help them learn as many foundational skills as quickly as possible to set them up for a full and happy life.

Our mission is to graduate all children to the education environment by age 5 or 6. We are not here to "fix" children, but to support them with the best possible foundation for a fulfilling life. We are here partner with our families and help them reach their goals and dreams.

The BehaviorSpan - Denver Center Difference

Our program is different from most ABA companies in a few key ways:

1.    We put fun and excitement at the center of our clinical model. As explained on a recent article on our website, each of our centers has a large, beautiful playground built specially for the children we work with. We know from years of experience that children that are fun and engaged learn more quickly. Our highly effective clinical model is built around this value.

2.    Our clinical model is one-of-a-kind. Over years we built upon successes to develop a highly specialized model that maximizes the outcomes we are able to help children achieve. We have multiple levels of oversight for each clinician to ensure that every moment spend with a child in our center is used to its fullest to teach them. For this reason, we are able to teach our children rapidly and effectively, and graduate them at higher rates than other ABA centers. Children that graduate form the BehaviorSpan program seldom need further ABA services, and often go on to be successful in school. We are proud of our children’s outcomes, and we follow families through their journey for years after services end.

Our mission has always been to make learning fun, and our centers reflect this value. Our staff our compassionate, highly-trained, and put the outcomes of children first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.

High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.

ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.

Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!

The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.

When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.
