Founding Story

Our founders, Billy Edwards, Carla Edwards, and Lori Russo, are driven by an unwavering passion and dedication to provide quality ABA therapy services to underserved families in Dallas-Fort Worth. As some of the country's first Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), they understood the urgency of their mission to make a positive impact on the lives of children with autism. In 2000, they established DFW's first office-based ABA consultation, and in 2003, expanded to a site-based treatment program.

Their vision has since led to the opening of over a 100 locations across Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, and Colorado under the Behavioral Innovations brand. The core values that drove our founders' original mission continue to inspire us to innovate and grow, always with the goal of making a meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

ABA therapy is a preferred treatment for individuals with autism. However, whether or not ABA therapy is right for a particular child with ASD depends on a number of factors including their individual needs, strengths, and challenges, as well as the family's goals and preferences. It is important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a licensed psychologist or behavior analyst, who can conduct a comprehensive assessment of the child's needs and make personalized treatment recommendations. Once diagnosis is confirmed, our Board-Certified Behavior Analyst will conduct an initial consultation which will serve as the basis for a personalized treatment plan specific to your child’s needs.

Conveniently located on Menchaca Road, our ABA therapy center in Manchaca is easily accessible and always within reach. Our center provides a supportive environment for children with autism and their families, creating an atmosphere of growth and learning that is tailored to each individual's unique needs.

Although we understand the convenience of at-home ABA therapy, our services are only provided at our centers. Research indicates that full-time ABA therapy is more beneficial than part-time treatment, and center-based therapy allows for a more intensive and structured program. Additionally, our centers are staffed by experienced and dedicated professionals who can provide a safe and nurturing environment for your child to learn and grow.

After a thorough evaluation, the BCBA determines the length of therapy. Treatment plans vary in intensity and frequency, so the number of hours may vary. For example, a child with severe communication delays may require more frequent and intense therapy than a child with milder delays.

For your child to be able to benefit from a multidisciplinary approach, we can work with your child's provider and make it possible for them to conduct therapy on our premises in order to provide them with a convenient location.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.

High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.

ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.

Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
