About Autism Behavioral Solutions LLC

websitefacebook

Autism Behavioral Solutions, LLC is a family-owned and BCBA-operated ABA practice serving children and families throughout Northern Virginia and the greater DMV. Founded in 2013, ABS provides highly individualized, evidence-based ABA therapy in our home-based clinic and, when clinically appropriate, in clients’ homes, schools, daycares, preschools, and community settings.

By intentionally maintaining a small practice, ABS ensures that each child receives frequent, in-person oversight from an experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Our team works closely with caregivers to strengthen communication, social, behavioral, daily living, and independence skills that create meaningful improvements in everyday life. At ABS, families are heard, valued, and treated as essential members of their child’s treatment team.

The Autism Behavioral Solutions LLC Difference

What sets Autism Behavioral Solutions, LLC apart is our unwavering commitment to personalized, relationship-centered care. Unlike large, corporate ABA providers, we are a small, family-owned practice led by Meghan Holligan, MS, BCBA, LBA, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has been certified since 2007.

By design, ABS maintains a very small caseload, allowing us to focus closely on each client’s unique strengths, needs, and long-term goals. Our BCBA provides in-person supervision of RBTs and conducts parent meetings in person unless another format is mutually agreed upon to better meet the family’s needs.

Our RBTs hold undergraduate degrees, and are pursuing master’s degrees in education, counseling, or applied behavior analysis. Additionally, every provider has been with ABS for over a year, creating meaningful relationships, strong continuity of care, and little to no turnover among direct-care staff.

Through ongoing training, attentive supervision, and genuine connections, our providers make learning engaging, meaningful, and fun. We measure success not only through data, but also through each child’s growing independence, confidence, quality of life, and excitement to see their provider.

Founding Story

Meghan Holligan, MS, BCBA, LBA, founded Autism Behavioral Solutions, LLC in 2013 after witnessing firsthand how large, corporate institutions often fell short in providing quality care, appropriate staff training and supervision, and remaining committed to each client’s long-term success.

Meghan envisioned a concierge-style ABA practice where every child and family is heard, valued, and treated with the utmost dignity and respect, regardless of funding source. At Autism Behavioral Solutions, families receive highly individualized care from well-trained providers who are dedicated to achieving meaningful, lasting progress in skill acquisition, behavior reduction, independence, and overall quality of life.

As a mother, Meghan understands how important it is for children to feel safe, valued, and genuinely connected to those who support them. She continually strives to ensure that learning is engaging and fun—and all clients are excited to see their providers and participate in each session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.

High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.

ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.

Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

Most public school districts across the country begin accepting student registration in early spring, usually in March or April. Some school districts may even start as early as January or February. The exact start date will vary depending on where you live and the type of school you decide to enroll your child in.

It depends on your child’s specific needs, the types of school options near you, and your family’s budget and values. As your child grows and matures, their educational needs may change over time which may require you to re-evaluate their school placement.

Check out our complete school guide for tips.

Yes! Visiting a school in person will give you an opportunity to get a better idea of what your child’s school day will look like and ask important questions.

“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!

The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.

When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.
