Founding Story

Aspire Living & Learning started in Vermont in 1981 under the name The Institute of Professional Practice (IPPI). We emerged in response to the social policies of the 70’s and 80’s, when thousands of people with developmental and psychiatric disabilities left institutions and returned to their local communities. Once there, however, these individuals,

I would not recommend Aspire Living and Learning to anyone anymore. It was once some of the best client focused adult programming NH had to offer for disabled populations. Now however they can not hire in staff faster than they are losing them. This leads to many clients being left unoccupied throughout their days while the company bills for services that only include the most basic levels of babysitting. This is all while being unable to provide even that for the many clients who would like to return to program full time but cannot due to low staffing. This is partially due to the NationalDSP staffing crisis but it also has everything to do with toxic top heavy management particularly at the Stratham NH office. With two exceptions management there has created a culture of intimidation where DSPs are expendable a manager literally said DSPs have an easy job where they just get to hang out watch movies and have fun all day and clients and their families are no longer put first. This along with the constant addition of new managerial and corporate positions that dont directly benefit clients makes Aspire a moral and ethically dubious place to work. The clients and DSPs there deserve far better than what this company is offering and I highly recommend looking elsewhere. This company lacks vision transparency when it comes to families asking to see individual budgetary information for their loved ones and will keep abusive and incompetent managers and staff over ones who consistently do right by their clients and their families. I was recently fired from this organization by managers none of whom were my direct supervisors who had never seen me do my actual job with clients and had no clue what my relationship to my client and their family was like. They did this during a national staffing crisis at the protest of the family and my direct supervisor. A warning a write up a written apology all would have been more appropriate than breaking up a bonded staff and client. These are peoples lives. People dont need managers and CEOs. They need staff.

Aspire Living Learning dose the opposite what they say they do. They limit what people can do and they dont teach people anything. They refuse to help there clients succeed. They dont care about the people under their care. They claim to be a great non profit company that helps individuals with disabilities but thats all a lie. They antagonize and trigger people with disabilities and watch them freak out then they blame the meds of there clients as the issue and tell the disabled client that its all their fault.Do not sign your loved ones to this company they will distroy your loved ones life. One day at a time.
