Founding Story
You are not alone in this. I’ve been in your shoes! Ask the Advocate was born because of the journey I went on with my first son.
I received some early intervention advice around age 2 —after a very challenging newborn phase —that I should reach out to the local school department and ask them to evaluate him for services.
I was told SO MANY conflicting things about how the special education process worked. I felt so lost and so confused.
So, I began doing research on my own. I joined support groups. I attended trainings in Boston. I connected with other families going through similar and unique challenges and learned from them. I went ALL IN for my son —I lived and learned the process.
It is now my honor to support you through this experience as a special education advocate and consultant so that you never have to feel the way I felt sitting at my first IEP meeting: vulnerable, scared, and like there was no one on my side. I’m here to advocate for you and your family.
