Introduction

Hi, I’m Ashlyn, a pediatric occupational therapist passionate about helping children and families thrive through meaningful, strengths-based support. I take a neurodiversity-affirming, child-led approach, meeting each child where they are and honoring their unique strengths, interests, and needs. I am trained in the AEIOU Approach to Feeding and currently am completing the Polyvagal Institute Certificate course.

I believe that connection is the foundation for growth, and building a trusting relationship with your child is always my first priority. Therapy sessions with me are playful, collaborative, and individualized—not just for your child, but for your entire family.

As a neurodivergent person with siblings who have disabilities, occupational therapy has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. These experiences shaped my understanding of how important it is to support the whole family, not just the child receiving services.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your family’s journey.

What words would you use to describe yourself?

Energetic
Curious
Empathetic
Vibrant – I bring energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of playfulness to everything I do. Whether in my own adventures (like surfing, hiking, or tidepooling) or in therapy sessions.

Curious – I am a lifelong learner who is always asking questions, seeking new perspectives, and deep understanding. My curiosity helps me better understand each family's unique experiences and continually grow as a therapist, advocate, and person.

Empathetic – As a neurodivergent person with siblings who have disabilities, I understand firsthand that every individual and family has their own journey. These lived experiences have shaped how I connect with others and help me approach my work with a genuine desire to ensure people feel supported, valued, and understood. It also means I will push families, when they are ready, because I know just how much they are capable of!

Who are you best positioned to serve?

Anyone is welcome to book a consultation to explore whether my approach is the right fit for your family.

I am particularly well suited to supporting families who value neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based care. My approach goes beyond focusing solely on the child and considers how family relationships, routines, environments, communication, and nervous system regulation influence the well-being of the entire family. Families looking for collaborative support that honors both the child and the family system may find my approach especially beneficial.

I have both professional and lived experience with Fragile X syndrome, ADHD, autism, and sibling-disability dynamics. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the unique strengths, challenges, and perspectives that many neurodivergent individuals and their families navigate.

I have experience supporting children who use or are exploring augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and enjoy collaborating with families and other professionals to create meaningful communication opportunities throughout daily life. I also have experience working with gestalt language/cognitive processors.

While I work with a wide range of children and families, these areas hold particular meaning for me!
