Introduction

Hi! My name is Arlene Barreto, M.S., CCC-SLP, and I am the owner and bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist at Light of the World Speech Therapy.
I provide play-based, strengths-focused speech and language therapy for children from birth through 18 years of age. My areas of expertise include peditric therapy, early intervention, speech sound disorders, receptive and expressive language, autism spectrum disorder, Gestalt Language Processing (GLP), and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). I am passionate about empowering families and creating therapy experiences that are engaging, meaningful, and fun. My goal is to help each child develop the communication skills they need to express themselves, connect with others, and thrive with confidence in their everyday lives.

What words would you use to describe yourself?

Kind
supportive
compassionate
I chose these three words because they reflect the values I strive to bring into my work every day. I believe in treating families and children with kindness, making sure everyone feels heard and supported, and creating a safe, compassionate, and enjoyable environment where children can learn, grow, and feel comfortable being themselves.

Who are you best positioned to serve?

I am best positioned to serve children from birth to 18 years old. My areas of expertise include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Gestalt Language Processing (Natural Language Acquisition), and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I also have extensive experience supporting children with speech sound disorders, including articulation and phonological disorders, as well as receptive and expressive language and social communication (pragmatic language) challenges. I provide individualized, play-based, strengths-focused therapy that honors each child's unique communication style while partnering closely with families.

    Beaming Review

Arlene is amazing with patients and extremely creative in her care, provides detailed documentation, and implements every piece of feedback well. She has handled very complex cases with ease, always comes prepared for sessions, and sets attainable, personalized goals for each child. I've never heard a complaint from any family she's worked with, and I would 1000% refer patients and family members to her!
