Introduction

Hi! My name is Annette Velasquez, M.S., CCC-SLP, and I am the founder of Happy Speech Therapy. My journey into speech-language pathology began at seventeen when I attended my brother’s IEP (Individualized Education Program) meeting and witnessed firsthand the impact that communication support can have on a child and their family. As the sibling of an individual with Down Syndrome, I saw the challenges families often face when navigating services and advocating for their loved ones.
That experience sparked my passion for helping children find their voice and supporting families along the way. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in both school-based and private practice settings, serving children and young adults ages 2–22 with a variety of communication needs. My clinical experience includes supporting speech and language development, speech sound disorders, social communication, and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
I am passionate about creating a supportive, family-centered environment where children feel valued, confident, and empowered to communicate. I believe every child has a unique voice, and my goal is to help them discover and share it while partnering with families to make meaningful progress.

What words would you use to describe yourself?

COMPASSIONATE
DEDICATED
PASSIONATE
The three words I would use to describe myself are compassionate, dedicated, and passionate. My journey into speech-language pathology was deeply influenced by my experience advocating for my brother, which taught me the importance of listening, understanding, and supporting each child’s unique communication journey. I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where children feel valued and confident. Families describe me as patient, caring, and committed because I believe progress happens when children feel safe, supported, and celebrated for who they are.

Who are you best positioned to serve?

I am best positioned to serve children and young adults ages 2–22 who need support with communication development, including early intervention, expressive and receptive language, speech sound disorders, social communication, and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). I have experience supporting children with a variety of communication needs, including children on the autism spectrum, and I enjoy creating individualized therapy plans that celebrate each child’s unique strengths. With experience in both school-based and private practice settings, I value collaboration with families and caregivers to help children build confidence and use their communication skills across environments. As a bilingual Spanish-speaking SLP, I am passionate about supporting families from diverse backgrounds and helping them feel empowered throughout the therapy process.

    Beaming Review

Annette is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and her bilingual skills help her quickly build rapport with Spanish-speaking families. Families absolutely loved her and I've never heard a single complaint about her. I would absolutely refer patients and family members to her; I can't say enough great things about her!
