Introduction

Hi, I’m Anna Wheatley! I’m a pediatric speech-language pathologist based in San Diego, and I’m passionate about helping children and young adults—from 15 months to 21 years—grow their communication skills in ways that feel natural, joyful, and meaningful.

In my work, I prioritize connection over compliance and believe that the most powerful progress happens when children feel safe, understood, and celebrated for who they are. My therapy sessions are child-led and play-based, meeting each child and family right where they are. Together, we build on each child’s unique strengths to support communication, confidence, and connection in everyday life.

My areas of expertise include early intervention, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and speech sound disorders. No matter the goal, I believe therapy should feel engaging, encouraging, and filled with opportunities for genuine connection and growth.

If I had to describe myself in a few words, I’d say energetic, patient, and caring. I love getting to know each child and family I work with—their personalities, interests, and what truly motivates them. Building that connection helps me create therapy plans that are individualized, meaningful, and rooted in each child’s unique strengths.

I bring enthusiasm and creativity to every session, keeping therapy fun, engaging, and centered around what matters most to the child. Families often tell me they appreciate how invested I am in their child’s growth and how I celebrate every success, big and small.

Collaboration is also a huge part of my approach. I work closely with parents, teachers, and other professionals so children feel supported in all areas of their lives and can carry over their communication skills—and confidence—well beyond the therapy room.
