Introduction
Hi! My name is Anna Poggensee, and I’m a pediatric speech-language pathologist based in San Jose. I work with children ages 0–16 and use a child-led approach to help communication skills develop in a natural, engaging way. My areas of expertise include early intervention, receptive-expressive language delays, speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, AAC, fluency/stuttering, and voice, including gender-affirming voice therapy. I’m passionate about partnering with families to help children meet their goals and build confidence in communication. I love making therapy fun while supporting meaningful progress for each child and family.
What words would you use to describe yourself?
Patient
Engaging
Fun
I believe patience is essential when supporting children as they build new skills, and I strive to meet each child at their own pace. Being engaging helps me create sessions where kids feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to participate. I also bring a sense of fun into therapy because play and laughter often lead to the best learning moments. My goal is always to create a positive environment where children feel supported and families feel encouraged.
Who are you best positioned to serve?
I’m best positioned to serve children ages 0–7 who benefit from a child-led, supportive approach to building communication skills. I have particular experience supporting children with receptive-expressive language delays, speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency/stuttering, voice concerns, and those who use or may benefit from AAC. I provide neurodiversity-affirming speech and language therapy for autistic children and have training in gestalt language processing. I especially enjoy collaborating closely with families so that communication strategies can carry over into everyday routines. Because my training and experience span a wide range of pediatric communication needs, I’m comfortable supporting many children and tailoring therapy to meet each child’s individual strengths and goals.
