I caution anyone seeking employment within social services andor mental health to avoid Anixter. The work culture is incredibly toxic and management perpetrates more toxicity when a concern is brought to their attention. Anixter as an organization is consistent in their abusive and toxic culture throughout every work setting residential community hubs office etc The professional opportunities are minimum and the trainings are counterproductive. The wages offered do not align with their expectation of duty responsibilities for their roles. The union will not help and they are not receptive or responsive to the rising issues around pay and employee treatment. The recovery hub in Rogers Park isnt much different from a day program and though it claims to be mental health focused it is an idle setting where staff does bare minimum for members in that space. The members are part of vulnerable and marginalized populations but are not met with compassion from staff. Anixter also has budget issues. You will buy your own supplies to facilitate groups and you will not be reimbursed. They receive donations from jewel osco but leave old baked goods out for members to eat to avoid discarding old products. Most staff take home donations for themselves and police what members are offered. Staff sit on their phone and computers except for when a manager comes out briefly and then they engage members with half hearted groups that deter member growth. Though this recovery hub is framed for mental health staff is not knowledgeable. Staff promotes stigma and bias towards mental illness LGBTQ community and those with disabilities. The hub manager will spend s lot of time with you but does not implement appropriate supervision or management of hub space. She is a huge part of the problem and gossips with other staff. They speak ill of members without regard for them hearing. If youre seeking growth in this field look elsewhere otherwise this organization will be a waste of your time and unravel poorly

I worked here for over 4 months. At first it was fantastic. Then I was let go. Totally okay. But what is making me and giving this review is the lack of communication after termination. Im currently locked out of the pay portal and cannot receive any previous pay stubs or W2. Hr and payroll have continuously ignored me for over a month now in an attempt to get receive my W2. Absolutely ridiculous.

I worked here through a temp service. I had some personal issues going on and had to relocate but I really loved working here. They are a very caring staff. I wish I could have stayed. I loved the job I was doing and working with everyone so genuine and has your best interest at heart.. Best place Ive worked in a very long time..
