It has been awhile since my encounter with this place but Id like to say what I think so it doesnt happen to anyone else. I was suffering from mental illness and needed medical help. Having no other resources I found the courage to ask TAC for assistance. I spoke with an intake person who listened to my symptoms and pretended to read notes Id prepared for when I inevitably struggled to talk about it. This professional sighed audibly and asked Do you have a church family No other help was offered and my valid concerns were dismissed. I didnt need Sunday school I needed a doctor. Total waste of effort. Thankfully I didnt give up on my life. Dont go there if youre suicidal.

I have been going to Andrews now for 14 years and have had few problems with them. The second counselor I had for therapy was not very good but the first one was excellent. I would have liked to keep her but she had finished what she was there for. The doctor I had was Doctor Ghrist. He was excellent very knowledgeable and a kind person. I remained his patient until he left a couple of years ago. After he left I was assigned to a nurse practitioner who is just as knowledgeable as he was and just as kind. I wont say I have not had any problems but they were too few to mention. Overall Im well pleased with the service the manner in which I have been treated by my case managers doctors and even the Consumer Benefits Department.I have a difficult believing the person who said she was told her insurance would cover her expenses because I have never had insurance 100 of mental health expenses and I have gone to mental health professionals for 40 years without the success I have had at Andrews. The first couple of years I went to Andrews I was so steeped in depression and anxiety that I was able to be disabled because I could not be able to hold down a full-time job. And for the first time Dr. Ghrist came up with the right combination of antidepressant and sleep therapy. Andrews Center helped me with my therapy costs and medication costs since I was not in a position to afford them. I feel like a am a well person because of their care of me. I am able to work now and can afford to pay for the services rendered and for my medication. When I tell people I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder they cant believe it. I sometimes find it hard to believe that Im a different person now.Im writing this review because I recommended to a friend that he try Andrews Center but after he read the reviews he didnt want to take a chance. Therefore the conclusion I came to was that only people who have had a bad experience write a review. After reading the reviews myself I assured him that I didnt have any of those problems with Andrews and I decided to write a positive review.

If you have any income beware After telling me that services would be covered by my insurance they told me Id have to pay up to 480 a month for the case manager. That was AFTER I had to go and do the initial intake appointment for services which took weeks to get in. I guess Ill keep looking for help for my daughter at a place that doesnt charge an arm and a leg. Thanks guys way to let down not only a disabled vet but we are also a Gold Star Family.

I have received services from here since 2019. And every month it was a struggle to receive my medications. Communication is horrible and the scheduling ladies love to argue and make you feel like youre in the wrong. I have came a long way with my mental health and its gotten to a point where the andrews center is a hinderamce.it is sad how stigmatized mental health is in our country and the andrew center provides a solid case as to why.

If I could rate this place a ZERO I would. This place is a JOKE. I was receiving services for some lingering trauma. This place is NOT equipped nor staffed to assist those in family violence and sexual assault situations. They also ALLOW CURRENT CLIENTS TO BECOME VOLUNTEERS WHILE CURRENTLY IN TREATMENT which is highly unethical and crosses boundaries one should not cross. I know because it happened to me. A year later I am still waiting for the center Director to call me and respond to my letter. I applied for a position here ONLY TO SEE THAT ON MY INTERVIEW INVITATION THIS PERSON WAS HIRED ON SO KNOW THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND as a professional who works with victims I will NEVER refer anyone here for services I was forced to leave and THAT PERSON WAS REWARDED FOR UNETHICAL BEHAVIORS. If you are a victim I recommend services at a family violence emergency shelter NOT HERE EVER

My son was treated there for many years. If it hadnt been for them I dont know that he could have gone to college and got honors at TJC. He was so mentally ill from a combination of autism and learning disabilities he would walk down the street talking to himself and non verbal with others. They arent there to be your best friend. Theyre there to treat mental illness and disabilities.

I was transferred from 988 hotline to Andrews Center and they were not helpful at all in my time of crisis. They didnt show any compassion or care. Now they keep calling me offering services like insurance salesmen after I told them that Im doing better and seeking help somewhere else.

office completely failed to do anything according to my Childs needs. called numerous times and left messages even had written emails just to receive no response. after finally speaking with someone they were rude and unhelpful. they would not have a new prescription sent to my new pharmacy even though we had a refill. staff member actually told me I should take better care of my son. they let my son run out of his Ritalin causing him to go into withdrawals and have a mental breakdown. all this just a month after the death of his father. I have never in my life dealt with such an awful place.

I have attempted to change my prescription from the ANDREWS CENTER to another pharmacy...they will be mailed and they are much cheaper. These people will argue you down that you didnt request a refill. It takes everything to stay quiet. I am out of medication now because the nurse practitioner will only order 30 days a time. LORD knows if there were somewhere else to go for help l would. Smith County wants BLACK PEOPLE to do without medication be unstable and taken to jail. At least l could get my medication. New clients these people just want a long term job so to retire. They dont care about the patients.
