Introduction
Hi, I'm Allison Allen, a speech therapist who works with children from infancy through adolescence in their home or daycare settings. I work with families through early intervention and beyond, supporting communication development across speech sounds, language skills, and feeding. My approach is patient-centered and evidence-based, focusing on coaching parents and caregivers so therapy techniques carry over into daily life. I believe that the most meaningful progress happens when families feel empowered to support their child's communication in natural environments. I look forward to working with you and your child!
What words would you use to describe yourself?
empathetic
patient
optimistic
I would describe myself with the following three words: empathetic, patient, and optimistic. I chose the word Empathetic to describe myself because I naturally am able to put myself in other people's shoes and see things from their perspective. In addition, I chose the word Patient because I am able to remain calm and steady during uncertain or tough moments. And lastly, I chose the word Optimistic because I believe that every child and family can make progress and meet goals that we set together. I strive to focus on skills that clients CAN do instead of focusing on what they can't yet do. I believe that when we focus on meeting a child exactly where they are, we give them room to grow and learn without pressure.
Who are you best positioned to serve?
I am best positioned to serve pediatric clients, especially toddlers through adolescence. I specialize in early intervention, receptive-expressive language disorders, and speech-sound disorders. I also have experience with applying for funding for AAC devices. I enjoy working with a variety of ages of children and with a variety of diagnoses. I emphasize play-based and patient-centered therapy in my practice, and look forward to watching your child and family thrive while having fun meeting their goals!
