My 5 year old has been to another dentist we started going as soon as her first teeth popped up. The last visit there was traumatizing so we found a new dentist. Today was the first visit at All family dental and it was wonderful. We got in and out pretty quickly. The assistants took their time and explained each step first successful x-rays We tried the x-rays many times before at the previous dentist but it wasnt successful. The dentist was very good today as well. When we got in the car to leave my child said she liked it there and it was kind of fun. I appreciate the wonderful care here. Thank you everyone for making this a positive experience for my girl.
They have ZERO consideration for peoples time. You could be sitting on the chair waiting for the doctor for over 30 minutes. They will cancel your appointment without notifying you.And as someone else mentioned they will not let parents go back with a minor child for any kind of extractions even if the child is special needs or neurodivergent. Go elsewhere if you can.
I have been taking my son 13 to this dentist for a few years and have never had any issues until now.A few months ago we were told he needed to get some baby teeth pulled to make room for the adult teeth moving down and eventually be fitted for braces. We went to the consultation to meet the oral surgeon last month and while there I explained that my son was special needs and also a minor so I would feel most comfortable being in the room with him as he had 5 baby teeth extracted. The oral surgeon spoke with me at length about being to accommodate this as well as using laughing gas as my son would not respond well to the pain of local anesthetic with needles. We agreed laughing gas would be the safest option and planned out where I would sit in the room to ensure I would be out of the way but also still be present to support him.Cut to today and we check in at the front desk. He is called back by a dental assistant and my son and I follow her back. The assistant stops us in the hallway and tells me that they will take him from here and I can wait in the hall. I reminded her that we spoke with the oral surgeon at our last appointment and cleared it for me to be there. She said the oral surgeon said no one else could be in the room as he would be in there with 4 other assistants. 5 people in one room for extracting a few baby teeth That seems a little extreme to me.The assistant pushed back and insisted that I could not be in the room at all due to space. I asked her if I could speak to the oral surgeon and she said she would go get him. A few minutes later she comes out again not the oral surgeon and says that he has once again said I cannot be present as there is no room. I pushed back again and said this is what we agreed to during our consultation and Id like to speak with him about it. The assistant disappears again and the office manager comes out and proceed to repeat the same message I cannot be I the room as there are too many people. I asked if I could see the room in question and she said yes. I walk in and it is the exact same room as the consult with plenty of room for me to sit there are several chairs in the room as well. I push back one more time and said we have to be in the room. He is scared he is a minor andI am not comfortable with having this done and not being there to support him. She then says that there is another dentist that can do it with only one assistant but we would once again have to make an appointment for a consultation plus the actual appointment this would take weeks to arrange as this place is almost always booking appointments for 3 weeks plus out.At this point I was no longer comfortable with the situation. Insisting that I not be present for baby teeth extraction and that FOUR assistants were needed leads me to wonder if they were intending to restrain him. Even though my son is special needs he is a very calm and gentle child. During the consultation he was calm and responded well to the direction and there was no reason to believe he would not be the same during the actual appointment.Never in my life have I ever been to an appointment where a parent was not allowed to be in the room with their child. The fact that this setup was discussed and planned during the consultation and then completely disregarded on the day is extremely disappointing and quite concerning. That the oral surgeon did not have the gall to speak to me directly about withdrawing his agreement to our plan was unprofessional and frankly quite shady. This felt like a bait and switch situation. I do not recommend All Family Dental in Grayslake at all and will not be taking my child then again. They are untrustworthy and are not accommodating to their patients.
Please dont bring your kids to this place The worst experience ever Very unprofessional doctor almost lost my tooth because of her wrong treatment approach. Doctor doesnt listen when asked questions she got irritated and started screaming at me. Rooms are dirty with dust everywhereregarding assistants some are good some have no idea what they are doing. The front desk is a whole mess they just do not care about anyone and are very arrogant I have even noticed how they were making fun of some patients. Dental hygienist is the only professional person I met there very nice and performed very nice teeth cleaning. This place needs to be shut down or at least get a visit from state health services
I dont often write reviews but now I want to writeI recommend this placeMy daughter and I have been to different places for 7 years no one could find an approach to her she cried and did not give in to anyone she did not even want to open her mouth we had a very bad experience in the past with other dentistsI was very worried about this because we urgently needed to treat our teeth. My friend who had the same situation with her daughter recommended this place.I am very satisfied with them because they found an approach to my daughter and treated all her teethTotally recommendThank you
The staff is WONDERFUL but the oral surgeon is very rude and unprofessional. If everything wasnt booked upMonths and advance and my teeth didnt need immediate attention I WOULD NOT go to him. When I called about an concern and how he left the message on my voicemail he told me WHAT DOES THIS HAS TO DO WITH ANYTHING GET TO THE POINT kept cutting me off I had to tell him the way he was talking to me was unprofessional. He say SO YOU GOING TO KEEP THE APPOINTMENT OR GO TO SOMEONE ELSE basically like he wasnt trying to hear what I was saying at all. Once my appointment is complete I will NOT be back to him NOR RECOMMEND ANYBODY to go to him at this location nor Arlington Heights .this why people get SUED .
If I could give this office zero stars i definitely would. I took my family here for two cleanings and gave them the benefit of the doubt after the first time. My mistake. The quality of the cleanliness of the office is pure nasty. Prophy paste is seen all over the chairs. The soap dispenser where the Dr. and assistants are to clean their hands before procedure look like they are growing mold. Not only is the cleanliness of the office horrible the assistants are not educated when answering basic questions or sit on their phones right in front of you When Dr. Cho came in for the exam he didnt remove the tarter from my childs teeth fully. He walked off mid conversation and left me asking the assistant who wasnt even in room for exam questions. My second time to office assistants Joy and Ashley were both polite and took their time with my children. If this is your last resort of a place to go I would only request one of these two assistants to help with your visit. Not to mention if you just sit back and observe you will see the assistants smoking on the side of the building texting FaceTiming talking about other staff members loudly hanging out in the parking lot etc.
Today I brought my four-year-old to this dental office for her first ever dentist appointment. I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism kindness shown by the staff both our dentist hygienist were very friendly towards my child I. She tends to experience a bit of anxiety in medical settings due to some rough early childhood experiences but once we were back there they made it relaxing for her she was able to smile even show curiosity about her environment. Much appreciated
It was my sons first visit to the dentist and he really loved it receptionists are very welcoming as well as the dental assistants and doctor. They are very patient with children and I love the fact that my son felt comfortable while they were taking his X-rays and cleaning his teeth. Most definitely recommend.
I have been a patient of All Family Dental for 2 years.Front desk staff welcomes everyone with a smile and are very attentive. Kathy has been my hygienist each visit - I love her My appointments start promptly at the scheduled time. She is very gentle and thorough with my cleanings. The music Jazz playing is calming. Kathy rebooks my 6 month appointment while we wait for DDS to do exam. This is a very busy dental practice but managed well.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Use visual aids. You can use picture schedules, videos, social stories, and other visual aids to show your child what to expect.
- Take your child for a practice visit. This can be the same as the orientation visit, or it can be a “dry run” of an appointment where the dentist doesn’t actually work on your child’s teeth yet.
- Bring items to fulfill sensory needs. Bringing your child’s favorite fidgets and toys so they can play during the appointment will be helpful.
- Reduce unnecessary stress before and after. Reduce demands by wearing comfortable clothes, getting lots of rest, eliminating unnecessary activities (like grocery shopping — order for pick up!), and doing the things that relax your child. Your child will be able to regulate better when every day stressors are kept at a minimum.
Getting dental braces can improve your child’s confidence and smile. However, traditional braces can be really distressing for children with autism for many reasons. While traditional braces can correct more serious orthodontic issues, they’re also painful and difficult to clean. Clear aligners are the best choice for most autistic kids because they eliminate most of the problems that come with braces.
