Introduction

Hi! I'm Alexis Sanchez, a pediatric speech-language pathologist based in San Diego. I provide play-based, neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-focused, and family-centered therapy for children from birth through age 15. I believe meaningful progress happens when children feel safe, respected, and engaged, so I prioritize building trusting relationships with both my clients and their families. My goal is to empower children to communicate in ways that honor their unique strengths while supporting families with practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday life.

What words would you use to describe yourself?

patient
compassionate
creative
If I had to describe myself in three words, I would choose patient, compassionate, and creative. I believe every child learns and communicates differently, so I take the time to understand each child's unique strengths, interests, and personality. I strive to create therapy sessions that are engaging, flexible, and filled with opportunities for success. Families often tell me they appreciate my calm, encouraging approach and my ability to make learning feel like play while fostering confidence and meaningful connections.

Who are you best positioned to serve?

I am best positioned to support children from birth through age 15 with communication differences, including autism spectrum disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, speech sound disorders, Gestalt Language Processing, and children who benefit from Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). My passion is helping children build functional communication through individualized, play-based therapy while partnering closely with families. While I have experience in many areas of pediatric communication, I am not the best fit for children whose primary need is feeding or swallowing therapy, and I believe those families are best served by clinicians who specialize in those areas.

    Beaming Review

Alexis is a kind and caring speech therapist! She meets her clients where they are at, shifting effectively between play based and structured activities based on their individual needs. She is always open to learning new things and regularly brings in new information on speech/language and AAC devices to share with families and colleagues! I highly recommend working with her!
