About Alexander Leigh Center for Autism

Alexander Leigh Center for Autism (ALCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, full day, year-round Therapeutic Day School approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The day school serves children from the ages of 3-21 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), OHI, multiple disabilities, developmental delay, and/or intellectual disabilities, who come to ALCA typically requiring one-to-one support and intensive therapies to make measurable gains. Our student population comes from local public school districts that require a more intensive placement to meet the needs of a student.

Everyone is friendly and they explained everything very well. My son seems to be really enjoying going to school.

This is by far the worst place you can send your child. The turnover is the highest I have ever seen. The original staff has guit or just simply given up. People are nice but they have no idea what they are doing. There is zero continuity of care. Most of the staff are super under qualified. Good intentions with a terrible outcome. I am embarrassed that my school district and my tax dollars have been spent for many years of regression. Think twice before you consider this placement. Giant steps is far better if you are set at staying in state. Or move to Schaumburg school district. Their program is inclusive and 1000 times better. BTW this is a religious school paid by school districts.Good luck Employees hate it too JS

My severely autistic daughter went through all of the hoops of the interview process. The school district d300 agreed to pay for her placement. This school ignored all of my calls as well as the placement employees calls from the district for MONTHS. It was always a were debating and chosing who we place response. In the end I never even got a rejection letter or anything. Strung along for months for nothing. Months I couldve used to place her elsewhere. Pretty sad when your child is shunned by a school for those who are supposed to accept her.

I worked for this company years ago after leaving a job of 13 years with my local school district. I was told a promise of understanding and assistance when needed. The individuals responsible for training new employees mishandled my training schedule which led to me NOT receiving salary of 25k that I would told I would receive after my 13 WEEK training. On top of that because of the inefficient way that handled the hole situation there were at least TWO WEEKS that I did not receive any sort of pay because I had not been promoted to my salaried position. This company also claims to care for its employees. During my time with ALCA I was divorced and my mother was in hospital after suffering a stroke. I have all the legal documents to prove all of this. So I may not have left the company on the best terms but forgive me for wanting to get my life together. I recently tried to reapply for a position in their highschool transition program. Even after explaining my past situation the founder Kelly Weaver was more concerned about her own hurt feelings than hiring a high-quality autism therapist. My resume is on Indeed and it speaks for itself. All in all this place is a great idea but I feel that Kelly Weaver as well as a handful of past and present employees have lost sight of what really matters and thats the children. You spend all this money on new buildings and fancy scarves. Hey Kelly how about you take the heels off and get in the trenches with the real heros of autism. Instead of hiding in the top floor office of your ivory tower.SHE IS SEPARATED FROM HER STAFF AND STUDENTS BY AN ELEVATOR AND SEVERAL FLOORS. SHE ONLY COMES OUT FOR MEETINGS AMD APPEARANCES. PEOPLE LIKE KELLY WEAVER ARE THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO CHILDREN WITH AUTISM. SPEAKING FOR ALL PARENTS OF AUTISM

What an inspiring place of education for those with Autism. Caring teachers and staff. The children there are truly cherished. They all work very hard to do their very best to help these children learn and grow.

Disappointed of this School. They are not able to handle autistic children and they are claiming Center for Autism. They will call you for every small thing to pick up your child right away even if you are not able.
