About Alaska Aquatic Therapy - Soldotna Clinic
At Alaska Aquatic Therapy, our mission is to improve daily functioning and quality of life; promoting independence through individualized treatments focusing on decreasing symptoms and increasing strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, motor control, and safety.
I've gone to Alaska Aquatic Therapy after both my shoulder surgery and my meniscus repair surgery. I'm very active in running, hiking, and lifting weights so it was very important to me to have someone working with me that I trusted to get me back to being able to do what I love. After my meniscus repair I didn't think I'd be able to run again. I believe being in the pool and being able to start working on exercises before I was able to work on land was so beneficial. Brittany was always willing to research any new exercises or different things for me to try with my knee as well as my shoulder rehabilitation. Being in the pool helped with inflammation and I was able to move so much better after therapy. It's been two years since my meniscus surgery and I'm back doing what I love. I can't stress enough how beneficial I believe aquatic therapy is for getting you healed and moving again!

Frequently Asked Questions
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about you your skills, and you will most likely demonstrate these skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a couple hours.
Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with you, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon your strengths. If there are others part of your care team, the therapist may teach strategies for supporting your individualized needs at home and may recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help you thrive.
Monitor your progress. You can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure you're achieving your short and long-term goals.
The price of swim lessons can vary depending on where you live and what sort of program you decide to enroll your child in. A group lesson at a public pool may cost as little as $10 per lesson while a one-on-one lesson at a private pool may cost upwards of $100 per lesson.
Community centers often offer discounts to local residents, and most YMCAs offer sliding-scale fees based on your family’s household income. If you have more than one child, many swim programs offer discounts for enrolling siblings together.
