Advances in Mental Health and Addiction - Long Beach

Had a scheduled appointment today 2152023 at 1045am. My wife called to confirm and left a voicemail. No response. I called to confirm and left a voicemail. No response within 2days. Unacceptable Now base off of the other reviews this place just lost our business and a chance to see a valuable client.

Rei Ariza Yassmeen and the Programs they have here are absolutely wonderful. I feel like i finally have people on my side working to help me through these very confusing and mentally challenging times. 55 Highly recommend the therapists and Psychs here. I also Love that they offer Telehealth still. Ive had to move a few times and I didnt have to change my team and start all over with new peoplenew places.That being said I have to agree with some of the negative comments below the receptionist are 5050 sometimes you get a good one sometimes you dont. Its super hard to pay your balances Ive called in so many times and not gotten someone. So Ive now resorted to waiting to get billed...and well its been a few months now - and Im concerned about getting one Large bill. and I have not been able to get ahold of anyone to talk to about that. I wish it was easier to schedule time with my team and it looks like its best to just talk to them about it- but that only happens once you are working with them.I still think even with the set back and complications of getting someone to respond or return your call. Once you do get in their system its so worth it. Ive still recommend a few people to reach out to Advances.I hope they can get the front office figured out to compliment the amazing doctors and therapist they have.

Let me preface this by saying my provider is amazing Reinald is by far the best and most thorough healthcare provider I have ever had - he helped make some life altering realizations got my medications perfect correctly diagnosed me and get past my PTSD and even helped me be able to fly again.. absolutely 100 percent recommend him BUT this is the worst office staff in existence - do not waste your time they are rude and never answer the phone or return your calls. We are out of town due to a medical situation with my wifes mother across country and were supporting her during this time and the office staff unreasonably is requiring us to come in to the office just to fill out paperwork saying its office policy regardless what the provider says like how ridiculous- oh also my son with ASD was just outright abandoned by this office they just stopped answering our calls and I cant recommend strongly enough that you dont waste your time these office staff people are awful please not this is specifically referring to the HB office - never had any issues getting someone in Long Beach to answer the phone but sad that I cant get scheduled with Ray from their office

Receptionist wanted me to email her all my personal information before I can set up an appointment. She got upset when i asked is she working from home and if this was HIPPA regulates

The absolute worst. Never answers the phone its like trying to get through to a radio station giving away concert tickets. Receptionist are rude dr will never call when scheduled if at all.

Worst office and receptionists. They dont answer calls and have no understanding of how to communicate important information to patients. Do not expect to get through to them through the phone and expect attitude and sarcasm from the poorly trained receptionists. No professionalism here whatsoever. Save your time and money and go elsewhere to a facility who truly cares about their patients.

Got misdiagnosed here with depression 6 years ago after the nurse practitioner talked to me for less than 5 minutes about my childhood abuse. He downright interrupted me when I started talking about the beatings I got and said You have depression or else you wouldnt be thinking about these things. I was pushed Welbutrin when I said it wasnt working the nurse practioner doubled the dosage which left me vomiting and dizzy for 3 months straight. Still wasnt helping the depression after 3 months and the nurse practitioner just said keep taking it and so I stopped going here.My experience was so bad I didnt seek treatment for 6 years. Now I am seeking mental health elsewhere where my childhood trauma is actually acknowledged and I have actual goals set out for what I can get out of therapy and stuff and I am finally being treated for PTSD. Advances in Mental Health was just pushing pills for profit. I actually feel better after a mere couple weeks with my new place than I had with Advances in Mental Health where I sought treatment for several months.Advances in Mental Health also assigned me a therapist I believe her name was Julie who was absolutely terrible. There were no goals set out on how I can get better. She had a clipboard with her and spent more time writing in her clipboard like I was a subject to be studied instead of a person when she was not a medical doctor. She showed me a list of things to do to distract myself like take a walk and bake a cake. How many cakes do I need to bake exactly to stop having memories of my childhood abuse circle repeatedly in my head

Stepanoff is pretty good and so is the Psychiatrist Dr Revilla . But the front office is absolutely terrible. They actually hung up on me for calling and asking them if my insurance problem is fixed and its been a whole month. Ive Been calling frequently because Ive been going without my depression and anxiety medications and its starting to mess me up.Update. Been out of my medications for two weeks after leaving countless messages to get an appointment so I can get refills and They either dont answer the phone hang up on me or the system is down. Very frustrating.

Really a horrible facility. If you have any intention of improving your mental health I suggest you look elsewhere. Not only are the Doctors dismissive theyve questioned the legitimacy of my requests many times. The front office is inept I have missed a week of medication TWICE because Ive had to hound the front office incessantly to make an appointment. I get sent to the voicemail dozens of times before I finally get a response. Honestly not one to leave a bad review but this is peoples mental health. They are coming to you for care on an already stigmatized and difficult process. Everyone who works here seems to neglect that fact and wants you to jump through extra hoops just to receive needed care. Looking for a new doctors ASAP. Tired of this.

This place is pathetic and thats at best the front office is awful and unprofessional and very bad in scheduling. My son has had to suffer through mess for years averaging 1 hour wait before being seen. We have experienced 1.5 hours in waiting and then we were lied to on numerous occasions by the girls in the front office I dont know how they keep their jobs with their performance.Most people wouldnt have a job with how they treat paying customers. I am really looking for another psychiatrist that has an office that respects their clients.Please consider another office before you come here.
