About Adaptive Learning Center for Infants & Children
The Adaptive Learning Center (ALC) is a nonprofit organization that maximizes the potential of young children with disabilities, and creates awareness and acceptance between non-disabled people and people with disabilities. ALC is an inclusive preschool program that partners with different typical preschool programs around the metro Atlanta area and offers children with challenges the opportunity to successfully participate in a typical preschool environment. Support by an inclusion specialist is provided to ensure children achieve individual learning outcomes, as well as form and maintain positive social relationships with other children.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most public school districts across the country begin accepting student registration in early spring, usually in March or April. Some school districts may even start as early as January or February. The exact start date will vary depending on where you live and the type of school you decide to enroll your child in.
It depends on your child’s specific needs, the types of school options near you, and your family’s budget and values. As your child grows and matures, their educational needs may change over time which may require you to re-evaluate their school placement.
Yes! Visiting a school in person will give you an opportunity to get a better idea of what your child’s school day will look like and ask important questions.
“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!
The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.
When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.
