I am sad to say Access Center for Independent Living is not a good place to donate to. My 93 year old mother recently went into long-term care. I had a houseful of medical equipment and supplies from a longtime foot issue. I called and spoke with the director who referred me to one of their caseworkers. I gave him a list hospital bed walkers bath chair commode but also asked him about medical supplies. I told him I was well aware that they have to be careful with what they took. I had unopened cases of supplies all still originally sealed. He told me as long as it is sealed we will take it. This was a lieI had to call back multiple times to get the caseworker to arrange pickup. I received a call at 935am that the would be there in 30-45 minutes. A man with two young boys met me there started to load and then informed me they couldnt take anything but the equipment. They called the caseworker who then changed his story and told the driver to just leave which he did without parts to the hospital bed. I tried to stop him but he just drove away.Bottom line - the caseworker lied to me in order to get the equipment. They had no intention of taking the medical supplies. The sad part is I would have been just fine with that.
