Introduction

Hello! I'm Andrea, a pediatric speech-language pathologist servicing Concord. I use strengths-based and child-led approaches in all my sessions. I see children ages 2-10 in their homes. My areas of expertise include: autism, gestalt language processing, AAC, and articulation/phonological disorder. I am passionate about using your child's strengths and focus on building engagement with them from the start. I strive to help them be the best communicator they can be, while honoring their way of communicating. I enjoy educating the family on ways they can best support their child. When I am not mentoring others or with clients, I enjoy exploring new areas around the bay area with my husband and 2 daughters. We love visiting new parks, going to the beach, and planning our next road trip!

What words would you use to describe yourself?

Patient
Creative
Observant
Patient: when working with children, I practice being patient with them. The way a child communicates can be very subtle and I often find that when I am patient with them, they are able to communicate more. Creative: I can turn any activity a child is doing into a language learning activity. It doesn't matter what that activity is, if you are present with them, that is all that matters! Observant: I am very observant during my sessions. I watch all things the child does and see how they interact with environment. It gives me so much insight on how to better help your child.

Who are you best positioned to serve?

I am best positioned to support children with autism and articulation/phonological delays who prefer to have sessions completed in the comfort of their own home. I specialize in using a strengths-based approach, which is child-led in nature. I model language during all motivating activities and use games to encourage those with phonological delays. If I feel child would benefit from using an AAC device, I offer that to the family. I support the entire family in their journey to help there child become a communication risk-taker.
