Mrs. Winifred Winston is a powerhouse of a resource for Dyslexia education. I had followed her on social media for a few years then had the pleasure of meeting her at a Special Education conference here in Baltimore. I asked for any gem of advice for a parent who was in the beginning stages of the IEP process. She said very directly Get an Advocate there are many good ones here for you to speak to. I heard what she said however it hadnt gotten real for me as yet. I had no clue of what I was in for even though I had been navigating my daughters IEP process by myself. I did not understand how to even ascertain the help of an Advocate.During the Covid Pandemic I hit a wall. My daughter was already not reading writing spelling or calculating on grade level and all of the supports that were in place were falling by the wayside. . I was being pulled into meetings with the school where I was told that She just may not be able to learn anymore... At that point I knew I needed help if my daughter was ever to have a chance at thriving in school.I then reached out to Mrs. Winifred again through social media and explained my situation. It was our blessing that she was offering a grant to families that were in need of assistance for the hire of an Advocate. This was LIFE CHANGING I was partnered with an advocate that broke down the language of the IEP and guided me through the process of re-evaluation in order to get my daughter the appropriate resources for her to progress at her own pace. I am very enthusiastic to say that we are within a month away from sitting for a complete updated IEP where I am confident that my child who is now nine years old will be granted the best support and environment for her to thrive. I cant tell you how grateful I am to Dyslexia Advocacy for the help and guidance beyond the hope that it has given me in regard to my daughters education. I feel like a better parent through this process. Thank you Thank you and thanks again

Winford is simply amazing. In less than 24 hours she was able to secure me a tutor to work with my daughter. I was amazed at the customer service and the willingness to make a great fit for me and my family. I will always look to Winford for my dyslexia support needs.
