It took months to get ahold of them. I left messages that were not returned. Told to contact different people. After many calls l finally talked to someone but now am waiting on a phone for the blind. It has been about a week and a half. Mankato office is closed. Was told they are working from home. If that is the case they need to still be on the job during office hours.

The services they offer are pretty good but that is balanced by the difficulty of working with the staff. There seems to be an ever changing staff and they lose documentation frequently. There are resources to help cover college tuition but the amounts covered are out of date. Try not to attend an out-of state institution if you are trying to work with SSB as it is very difficult. If you are seeing impaired there is no other agency to help and you are forced to work with this governmental entity...and as such...its a little convoluted and inefficient....but they do it with Minnesota nice.

I have albinism OCA 1b and my corrected vision is 2050. It has been in the 2040 - 2050 range since 1994. I went to SSB in 2005 to inquire services and was told my vision is too good to receive help. I have other disabilities along with my albinism and ended up at regular Vocational Rehabilitation. I had these disabilities since birth or since I was in elementary school. I had my last eye exam July 2016. At work I prep documents scan and do data entry. I can zoom in the majority of the software provided however I cant read the batch numbers I need to write down to scan unless I stand up to look at the screen closely. I cant see what I typed real well after indexing. I have nystagmus with my albinism and I read slower than others pertaining to prepping. The bosses look at quantity besides quality at my job. I wish SSB gives support to everyone with albinism not just the people with severe cases.
