Julie Billiart is deemed to be the best autism school in Cleveland. They pride themselves on inclusivity and diversity. But that isnt true at all. If the staff feels youre too autistic then your not a right fit for their school. Judging children on a 1hr visit and or a 5.5 hr isnt an adequate enough time frame. Some children can perform on queue. While it takes other children some time to get acclimated to new environments. Nervousness newness shyness and all types of emotions play into altering normal behaviors for all kids but especially children with special needs. So to say someone is too autistic for an autistic school often leads families and children to think they arent good enough for a school that was designed to include them. This is passive aggressive discrimination. The excuse given is that they dont have the resources to accommodate the child in question. When in fact they are the only school with all the resources and a full staff of special education teachers. I didnt expect this process to be so stressful and draining. I understand that every school isnt for everyone. But telling and autistic child who is high functioning that they are too autistic for and autistic school is mind boggling. Ive never experienced this lack of empathy. Even being told that they would like to interview him again but dont put all our eggs in one basket after such a pessimistic comment I shouldve never agreed to a second interview. Im sure if I was wealthier our experience wouldve been different. Its extremely hard having special needs and having stipulation on which children are good enough to attend a special needs school and which are not is disheartening.

I went to this school from k-3rd grade I transferred to a different school around 2017 but this school was very helpful for me and if my kid where to have a mental disability I would have want to send my kid to this school. I am forever in debt to Julie Billiart for all of the help they have provided me.
