So I dont agree with these negative reviews. He is a man of few words. He did listen to me. He did show compassion. Hes a very intelligent man. Maybe his social skills arent like mine or yours. My feelings are pretty hard to hurt as well. Office staff was very kind. They see a lot of patients on a daily basis. People shouldnt be so whiny

I believe Dr. McHenry is intelligent and I am grateful now about how thorough he was with my adult childs care. Assuming she got the correct diagnosis that is which honestly Im still not sure. Unfortunately there were more things I didnt like about him the way he operates his offices. He has VERY poor bedside manner especially to loved ones of his patients. He seems to be extremely terrified of germs specifically COVID 19 wears a raincoat and duck tape and forces personal protective equipment on his staff patients. He doesnt really give clear answers when it comes to plan of care. When we went in November 22 to March 23 the office was under construction but something tells me that was probably a long-standing event. Yes Im doing a review from that long ago. Thats how strongly I feel about NOT recommending Dr. John G. McHenry as a Neuro-ophthalmologist.

Unprepared office. Did paperwork online then have to do it again on arrival. Didnt have any information about why we were there even though everything was sent to them already. Mask policy even though some workers dont even wear the masks properly.Bunch of stupid office workers and assistants that think theyre somebody cause theyre in scrubs.Dr is good. His staff is trash.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SEEING THIS DOCTOR I was referred to Dr. McHenry after my regular ophthalmologist was unable to find a cause of vision impairment in one eye. I later learned thats because no other neuro ophthalmologists are accepting new patients in the DFW area. Im a licensed clinical therapist and I brought my husband medical physician with me. I also gave his staff recent MRI and other medical reportslabs for him to review. The staff were helpful but once he finally came in to see me 1.5 hours into the appointment he spent 2 minutes looking at my eyes and then turned around and walked out. He appeared disheveled and unkempt. When I tried to ask questions about the upcoming testing to be done or if he had seen my test results he cut me off and said he does his own testing and if I had a problem with that I can go get another opinion elsewhere. Alarm bells went off at that point. I am 60 years old and have never experienced such poor professional behavior from a medical doctor or clinician He didnt seem the least bit interested in what I thought or questions I had as a new patient. We asked his two assistants after he left the room if hes usually this way with patients and they said hes a man of few words. We decided not to continue with the appointment and when his manager was sent into see us she informed us that he sees 120 patients a day and she was proud of it In an 8 hour work day thats 15 patientshour Theres no physical way that a doctor can be clinically thorough or spend a medically appropriateprofessionally ethical amount of time with patients at that rate I DIDNT READ ONLINE REVIEWS BEFOREHAND IF SO I WOULD NOT HAVE MADE THE APPOINTMENT. Were looking elsewhere for help. Note I called a week in advance to get an estimate of charges for my upcoming visit -- no one called me back and when I called and asked again -- no one seemed to be able to answer this. This is not transparent or ethical financial practice.

Please Read After dealing with debilitating headaches high blood pressure due to the pain and several er visits I saw Dr. Mchenry within a short period of time after referral for my pseudo cerebri tumorICH. His staff was quick efficient kind and I was roomed quickly. After several tests I spent less than a few minutes with Dr. Mchenry and he said I needed surgery on both eyes to relieve the pressure. I was terrified hearing that and then reading these reviews. I found 2 people in the reviews with my condition who recommended him in spite of so I scheduled one eye at a time. Since my surgeries I have never felt more complete and relief throughout my body. This condition is horrible and the medication is even more diabolical. If you want a DOCTOR who knows what hes doing but maybe doesnt smile all the time or talk a lot I implore you go see him Thank you Dr. Mchenry and staff you are A1 medical care and staff If you dont understand they will do all they can to assist and they work 7 days a week to keep you informed.

I knew going in this was going to be an interesting experience so I was prepared for his personality lack of bedside manner. The office itself is actually run in a really organized manner. It is a bit strange not really being able to have a real conversation with the doctor.I had an unexplained eye issue earlier this year but he didnt see anything wrong. So I kept going for a while with no explanation or real diagnosis. I decided to get a second opinion am glad I did because this doctor ran the correct blood tests according to my symptoms I got a diagnosis. Its frustrating that Dr. McHenry was just going to keep having me come back indefinitely when I could have already been diagnosed started treatment.

Dont go he is an idiot Angry upsetting person dont know how he is still a doctor I believe he is mentally disturbed the office clearly tells you before your appointment it will take up too 4 hours and they tell you that your eyes will be dialated and then they want to preform 2 different exams when you get there one with it and one without it just to get more from insurance he is really off his rocker he actually scream and hollers at me thought he was going to hit me for asking a question I w ran out of his office he sees hundreds of patients a day no time for him to actually help anyone not that he is interested in doing that nor does he know how cant believe he has not been shut down yet

im not the type to leave reviews but dealing with this practice has been horrifying.GET A SECOND OPINIONAND READ THE REVIEWSits one thing if you are dealing with a medical emergency and you need to get in quick but if you have the ability to see someone else then do it. I dont want to attack this guys character but this practice feels extremely shady. Visits consist of 2-3 hours of bizarre test followed by maybe a 2 min visit with the doctor in which he barely scans your eyes mumbles under his breath and then walks out. I was able to get a second opinion from another neuro ophthalmologist in the area and being there made me realize that Mchenry never gave my eyes a thorough examination while they were dilated. Ive also heard through the grapevine that Mchenry is notorious for misdiagnosing people and creating messes. Mchenrys office felt so off and I convinced myself that this is just how it is when you see a neuro ophthalmologist but that is not true. With Mchenry it feels like youre nothing but a number and hes going to milk as many visits from you as he can. If you have the ability to stay away from this practice I would recommend doing so.

I personally worked with Dr. McHenry for almost 6 years and although he lacks bedside manner he is really a great doctor. Ive seen him save the vision of many patients seen him diagnosis patients that have seen numerous of doctors that could not figure out the issue or the diagnosis and he helped my mom with her vision where she no longer needed to wear glasses after her surgery. Yes some of these reviews say some things about his temperament and manner but he has put years and years of his life into his work and his practice is the outcome of his dedication and he genuinely cares about every patient. If you doubt him and his care please do yourself a favor and look up his accomplishments and career before allowing the negativity to take over. He really is a doctor that can make the impossible possible.
