Inova Fairfax Hospital

Ive been here a few times for a few different reasons. We stayed overnight once for my daughter when she was a baby and had a great pediatric experience. Ive also been to the ER a few times and had to stay here over night myself. The ER is not the best. Some staff members in the ER are unprofessional laughing loudly talking about their personal life in front of patients mocking the patients pain being sarcastic with the patients all while many patients are suffering. I stayed over night and had good nurses but my room was dirty when I arrived. The bed had stains on the rails and the shower had not been clean. When I told the nurse about it he replied with this isnt a 5 star hotel. Also getting fed while staying there seemed to be an issue. There is no system as far as when the food is served or when you should order but if you dont order then you dont get fed. However no one ever told me when or how I should order. If you dont have a visitor from outside come and bring you snacksmeals youll be quite hungry.

We unfortunately had to spend our sons first birthday in the hospital he is now out and doing much better but I just had to share how awesome the staff was. Our nurse Kevin especially made sure we always had all we needed and the whole staff came in on the morning of Nolans birthday to bring him balloons a present and a sign signed by everyone. Being in the hospital is never fun and can be scary but the whole childrens hospital staff made it as best as it could be.

This is by far the worst hospital ER they put you in makeshift bed chairs in the hallway doesnt matter how good your insurance is. Have to wait extremely long time until someone acknowledges you. Biggest thing is that their medical staff lacks knowledge I went to ER with a lot of pain and they did a bunch of tests the doctor came back and said she has no idea what the issue is. It was not until I looked up test results in my chart then googled it and told her what the test results are pointing towards that she realized. This mistake can cause ppl their life She causally referred to have surgery done but was not able to explain anything related to the procedure with clearity. They also do nothing to protect your items when you are heavily medicated lying in their so called make shift bedschairs. My designer bag was stolen probably by one of their staff members and they did absolutely nothing to help. Im sure they have security camera they can look up but if they are the one stealing then makes sense they didnt offer to look Seems like they are running a shady operation. Shame on the hospital. I hope and pray they get better doctors to treat ppl in their most critical time in need

As a child of an elderly disabled person my mothers 2 weeks stay here has been hell. She was literally left sitting in her feces on the side of the bed for 8 hours. The doctors have been uncooperative and unsupportive. I was lied to by nursing staff at least twice. And now because shes been discharged to a nursing facility shes being threatened with additional cost because I want just place her anywhere for the sake of discharge. Keep in mind my mother has insurance. Like it doesnt matter at all that a person would need to view and review the facility that theyre placing their parent into for care. And Im actually concerned that leaving this review may result in some sort of patient retaliation. I dont care if Im dying I would never use this facility again for any of my familys needs.

Wow Im so surprised and not in a good way at how rude and dismissive so many working at this hospital are. The medical records department the ER staff.. its mind blowing. I really think its our culture of overworking and under compensating people. Its sad really because this is place of employment where having a little compassion goes a long way. Do better guys. Please.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE HOSPITAL FACILITY SEPARATELY AND THEN CHARGED SEPARATELY AGAIN BY ENVISION PHYSICIAN SERVICES FOR ANY MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL WHO SEES YOU AND TREATS YOU AND THEN SEPARATELY AGAIN FOR ANY RADIOLOGY YOU HAVE DONE THREE OR MORE SEPARATE BILLS FOR ONE HOSPITAL VISIT I WAS CHARGED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FROM INOVA AND THEN TOLD THAT WAS ONLY TO USE THE HOSPITAL BUILDING THEN I WAS CHARGED SEPARATELY FOR THE TWO MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS WHO I WAS TRIAGED TO THEN I WAS CHARGED SEPARATELY FOR XRAYS YOU WILL NOT BE TOLD AHEAD OF TIME THAT THIS IS THEIR PROTOCOL YOU WILL JUST RECEIVE MASSIVE BILLS FROM MULTIPLE AGENCIES I came to Inova for an ankle injury in September. The x-ray tech took my first round of x-rays with my icepack wrap still on my ankle so the MDs couldnt give me a diagnosis and I needed to have the x-rays taken again. After I was told I had no injury and was sent home with an ace bandage. When I got home the results of the second x-rays came back showing I actually had a fracture. I was diagnosed from the first set of x-rays not the second. So I had to go back the next day to receive a splint. The hospital charged me for the second set of x-rays and the subsequent visit and my health insurance wouldnt cover it because it was repeat procedures. So then I filed for financial assistance with the hospital but was denied because I couldnt prove my residency but I was unhoused and had no way of proving my residency. I appealed it and even though I am unemployed and working odd jobs making only a few hundred dollars a month my self-declared income in their system was somehow listed as 9000month so I was denied again. So I had to pay for a notary to witness me signing a self-declaration of income. I contacted the finance department SEVERAL times only to receive responses saying Please contact us through the patient portal which I was doing and then theyd prevent me from being able to reply. I finally sent messages to every single department I was allowed to contact in the patient portal and then finally got a response from someone saying Id be contacted by patient services. I was never contacted by patient services to this day. Then I recently checked my account and my balance was cleared. No notification. No call. No email. The nurses and medical staff were all very accommodating and nice but the negligence and lack of communication and professionalism on their part is egregious.UPDATE FOUR MONTHS after going to the ER I am receiving a bill for 600 because the Physician Assistant who provided me care a joke was not in-network. And now Im getting a SEPARATE bill from Envision Physician Services. How am I supposed to know that the provider ASSIGNED TO ME when I went to the ER is NOT in my insurance network This shouldnt be allowed. This should be illegal. And I have no idea what my rights are or how to advocate for myself or who can help me.If you have any choice other than going to this hospital I would recommend it. These people are money gougers.

Highlighting our nurse HELEN. She works in the ER. FLOAT POOL RNMy dad had a stroke about a year ago and we have been to many emergency room since then and we have seen a lot of nurses. She by far has been the best nurse we have ever had. She very kind and patient with my dad and my family. Most importantly she was THOROUGH Answered every question and the ones she werent authorized to answer she made sure she ask the doctor and got right back with us. Not to mention the ER was packed. People lined up outside of rooms. She needs a raise IMMEDIATELY or some type of recognition. Thank you so much Helen

Had the best experience here during my surgery. The experience right from the door to the time I exited the hospital womens center was just phenomenal.The team at Inova are excellentExtremely attentive cooperative ethical passionate responsible.I could keep goingSo grateful to all the staff at the hospital.

Please dont bring your child here. I brought my son for an evaluation for stomach pain in the middle of the night. My son was asked to lie on the bed in a dark room while waiting. When the finally nurse came in we all saw that the sheets were soiled with blood and feces. The room had not been cleaned. The nurse apologized and proceeded to change the sheets wipe down the bed and clean the room. We were disgusted.My son was found to have fecal impaction and required an edema. The nurse asked my son if he wanted me to do it. Of course my son said yes. So I was doing the nurses job. We were then discharged with the wrong patient information with medications ordered that were not for my son. I then received a bill for 1500 for giving my son an edema in a dirty hospital.I have been disputing this for over 6 months. They have denied any of this basically accusing me of lying. The nurse denied the soiled sheets and the discharge nurse denied giving us someone elses summary.We are in the medical field and are appalled. This is the worst medical experience we have ever had.

After a horrible accident I spent a few nights and underwent multiple surgeries at Inova Fairfax. Their physicians are fantastic masters at their craft. The support staff was courteous and comforting. The facility is modern clean and relaxing. I am lucky to have been under the care of such a wonderful and gracious hospital
