About IMPACT CIL

IMPACT CIL is a self-help, advocacy organization, which was formed in September of 1985 primarily by people with disabilities. We assist people with disabilities to achieve their full human potential and to advocate for a society that is free from both physical and attitudinal barriers so that we may be full participants in our own communities. IMPACT envisions a society where we as people live independently in our place of choice and in a society that is free from barriers, discrimination, prejudice and segregation. It is only then can we be free to make our own decisions and choices and to live in communities that accept us as equal members.

Wasnt anything more than information you find in a Public Aid office lobby or unemployment or free clinic or shelter or city hal... in brochures and pushboards. At least when I went there.

I had never heard of this place until my daughter-in-law told me about it and all I had to do was go down there and I walked in and talked to some lady at the desk and they handed me 25 worth of checks for free food at the farmers market. I didnt have to do anything. I didnt want to have to sign anything or anything. It was like wow I wish I knew of this place before. So if youre a senior citizen Id advise you to check it out because they have all kinds of services down there and its all free.

I hope one day in the future disabled citizens can take a step forward together in this country and the business world like the woman of the world today

I had been told of their services... went in with a situation I didnt know how to handle. Had a meeting with my sons school only 2 hours out. They gave me tons of information and although they could not be there physically... They had someone on the board from Springfield sit in via phone as my sons advocate. Couldnt have asked to work with nicer people.
