About Disability Rights Tennessee - Nashville

Disability Rights Tennessee (DRT) was founded as E.A.C.H. in 1978. Most recently the agency was known as Disability Law & Advocacy Center of Tennessee. Today, DRT is Tennessee’s Protection & Advocacy Network and has served—at no cost—more than 50,000 clients with disabilities. Our mission is to protect the rights of Tennesseans with disabilities. DRT provides legal advocacy services to people with disabilities across the state with numerous issues, including employment discrimination, safety in schools, abuse and neglect, and access to community resources and services.

Each time I call the staff is very nice and give information of who to contact. I have yet to truly receive any help to solve or guide my situation. I call the agencies suggested and there is no call back or I am directed to another place that doesnt help. Maybe things would be worse if no one was saying anything but its sad to be disabled and living on little and all these agencies providing very little help to solve anything. There just doesnt seem to be any power with enforcing laws for the disenfranchised. This is why our votes matter and we need to quit voting against ourselves in Tennessee. I see why we have so many homeless bc the way they are treated and cut off of there social security with no help to fill out paperwork.

Have had to use DRTs services on 2 occasions. If you have concerns about IEP constructionimplementation then do not hesitate to contact them. Knowledgeable and very willing to help. Removes much of the stress that can be associated with navigating IEPs in general. Sometimes because of workload the response is not extremely prompt but they will get back with you and once you are assigned a caseworker expect effective efficiency.
