About Atlanta Area Psychological Associates - Marietta

We want to de-mystify psychology and mental health. Therapy is no longer an arcane art practiced by aloof, out-of-touch professor-types in dark, leathery offices. We are a group of psychologists and counselors who specialize in finding real-world solutions for real-world problems. We have three locations in the Atlanta metro area. If we can’t help you in

I was evaluated by Emerald Minor with the supervising Psychologist Decia Dixon in 2016. Instead of focusing on my day-to-day struggles and observations on how I functioned they only focused in on how well I did at a gamified computer test and how mad I was with my family at the time. Because of the lack of diagnosis from these two I have had to suffer for the last 6 years. I am now seeking a second opinion from my university because I cant take it anymore. I have so many ADHD symptoms and I am struggling so much because I havent been able to get the help I needed. Screw Emerald Minor and Dr. Dixon. May your degrees rot in hell.

This was the worst experience I have ever had.I never even got to the point of the provider. The front office lady Kim is very rude.1My first call we had set up and appointment and I had asked her if she could find out what my copay would be. She told me she would find out. After not hearing back for a week I contacted them again only to find out that she not only forgot to put my appointment in for my son but she never found out about my insurance.2 I asked for a provider that would be in acworth as this is closer to me. She said sure only to have her call me back and tell me the one she put me with was in Marietta and that if I wanted the new one for Acworth it would be further out after already needing to push it out from her first mistake she made.3 The day before my sons appointment I get a call telling me my insurance was not able to be used and that I would need to change it or pay out of pocket.4 She told me I lied when I said I asked several times about insurance and then told me that maybe I should have called to figure that out.For someone who is trying to help their schools with their mental health this is the worst place to go. I cant believe how I was treated before I even got to see a provider. To me I will take this as a blessing from god.To others I dont recommend this place at all.

I have read some of the previous reviews and believe everyone perspective will vary from their own encounter. I did call and leave a message with staff who let me know they dont always get to answer live calls as they have limited staff but they took their time with me and answered all my questions. I made an appointment and even though I was looking for something sooner the availability they provided was sooner than other places. Dr. Dudley and all staff went above and beyond to accommodate me in my schedule also. I recommend this place to family and friends but I do let them know to be patient with the process in the beginning with scheduling and getting an appointment but in the end it is worth the wait. Thank you to Dr. Dudley and all staff.

Rotten office. Of course they dont answer phones but I was warned that they would make me wait a couple of days. Frustrated with the lack of privacy concerning the policy of surveying teachers about teens mental health I asked to speak to supervisor Debra Carver and was told by the person speaking to me that she was over the clock. Reading these poor reviews was depressing and now I am adding my own. The mental health of children should be between parent child and mental health professional. We still have our concerns and need an evaluation but if these people cant solve their patient advocacy service internal communication and management problems how can they help patients

Stay away from this joke of a practice. Your going to waste you money and time at this office. Please find someone who cares about your child. After 6 months of on and off testing no real progress on my child... realized this doctor cant help my son. DO WASTE YOUR TIME.

Dr. Skellie is the best counselor that I have ever known. She is very compassionate and you can tell she really loves people. Im very high on the spectrum for ADHD and some mental health workers across the board can be rude and make my disability more difficult and embarrassing. She has a very calming nature and is always patient and understands me. I am almost fifty and started seeing mental health professionals as a young child. I have seen enough counselors in my life to recognize the gold standard that she is in all she does in her practice.

Dr. Jordan is amazing She has been extremely helpful in working with my son who is now 18 who incurred a traumatic brain injury a little over a year ago. She is very professional my son really likes her she works with the family as well and involves the family in the treatment and correspondence which is very important and I love this. She is very responsive. She has a great bedside manner. She is respectful professional courteous and very good at what she does. I highly recommend Dr. Jordan. We are so thankful and so blessed to have found her

The flea market up the road is more organized than this practice. My daughter was scheduled for her second appointment at 445 on August 28th. She showed up on time and when Dr. Gary Dudley walked out he went right towards a man and his son who walked in after my daughter did. Completely ignored her existence. Then after a 30 minute session came out to talk to the boys dad and they left. Dudley walked back into his office and after about 1520 minutes in which my daughter knocked on the door twice Gary walked out looked her in the eyes didnt say a word and walked out the door and left. Any functioning human being wouldve asked her Are you waiting on anyone or Who are you here to see but no. Very unprofessional and ridiculous. Do not bring your kids here.

Dr. Dixon and her team tested my daughter for ADD. She was assisted by a school psychologist that acted as the test administrator. He was fantastic. Great rapport with my daughter. Dr Dixon did a great job at explaining findings. Also Dr Dixon used a test specifically used to diagnose ADHD that is computer-based and not just parent and teacher questionnaires. Most offices just use questionnaires that can be biased while the computer assessment gives pure data. As a past psychologist I trusted her test battery and findings - solid. We did have to wait a while for the final report which was frustrating. However the wait was worth it. The psychoeducational eval gave us good road map to providing supports for our child. We only say Dr Dixon for testing and not therapy.

Was going well first appointment was fine. I missed the second appointment because I had a medical emergency and had to go to the ER. Dr. Brandis did not accept the work excuse the hospital printed out instead REQUIRED a time stamped document as some kind of proof. Missed appointment fee is about 175 - this requirement is absolutely ridiculous as if Id go to the ER to get out of paying the fee when the ER visit alone is more than triple the cost I am in disbelief in this treatment as if I was a child needing to prove something Dont go here the for profit feel is nauseating
