Athena Care - Athens Way, Nashville

Ive never been to the Nashville office in person so I cant speak on how nice or clean the office is like other reviews but my experience with Athena Care has been like no other. They can be a little hard to reach via phone calls but they usually respond to text messages faster than usual which is also kind of a plus for people who are busy during the day They also always eventually call back if you leave a message. I had a little issue scheduling testing which was a result of an accident on their part which is understandable but I did have to follow up a few times to get an appointment scheduled initially which is the only reason for not leaving 5 stars.Any time I have talked to the front desk staff they have been very kind. Hailey especially was very kind respectful knowledgeable and helpful. She seems to be someone who truly cares about patients of their office and making sure they are taken care of.Dr. Boero has been very helpful in taking the time to truly listen and tend to specific needs in a thorough and caring way. He is not a doctor who just throws medication at you. He will give you other recommendations and methods that arent just medication as well- which is SO refreshing as immediately jumping to medication as the only fix seems to be a common occurrence in the medical industry. Testing getting a diagnosis follow up getting into therapy and medication if needed is a process- not just something that can happen in one visit- but this is how it should be They take the time to make sure they are tending to your specific needs in the right way.My journey with Athena Care is somewhat still just beginning but so far I am so thankful to have found them and for all the work they do

I initially had a very negative experience with this practice following severe communication issues that were happening in NovemberDecember of 2023. At the time I needed to cancel an appointment but was never able to get a response from anyone about doing so and then I received a bill for that missed appointment this February. I called yesterday and at first I was still really frustrated because I couldnt get through to talk to anyone on the phone but I sent a text message to their line at the end of the day and had a callback at 9am the next business day. It seems they have really made changes to address their response time issues and my billing issue was resolved no questions asked. I appreciate their team taking my new inquiry seriously and working on it asap. Still havent ended up having an appointment with any providers here as I ended up going with a different practice but the times I have spoken with someone they were courteous and helpful and theyre taking criticism and patient communication much more seriously moving forward in 2024

I wish I could give zero stars Honestly I had an okay process with the psychologist. The main issue was that I was told the entire process to get testing would cost a couple hundred bucks. I was charged around a thousand dollars. Thats an entire months rent I didnt expect the process to be the cheapest but I also trusted the folks I talked with at the beginning when they told me a number. The process of trying to call and figure it out has been terrible -- the texting doesnt work no one can give a straight answer -- and thats even IF I get someone on the phone which seems nearly impossible. One woman I spoke with was incredibly condescending and acted like I didnt know what the definition of the word estimate was. This is so discouraging for someone seeking care and so unfair to put a much more significant financial burden on a young professionalmusician living in town. I was disappointed in my testing process but accepted the outcome -- I didnt feel the need to write a bad review until I experienced how absolutely awful they treated me regarding billing and cost. I will not be returning to Athena Care Please do not seek care here

Im changing my review because it seems their system is getting better so my past review is not valid anymore.....First problem was the 1155 was routed as a generic number for the whole company that led to nowhere. Not really a problem anymore with their new portal they haveOther than that Ive now met a few of the staff and they are always very kind and caring.

Very difficult to get a hold of them took weeks to get documentation I requested multiple times and a follow up appointment. Then they rescheduled my appointment. Will not be going there again

The psychologist we saw Dr DeClue was so so kind smart and informativeCommunication regarding appointments or anything else is really frustrating.I work in healthcaremental health and I know its incredibly busy and demanding.I appreciate that you can text with a question. Its nearly impossible to get someone on the phone though.We saw the psychologist early February for the consultation and were told testing appointments were booking out to July I have heard nothing from the office about getting scheduled we were told we would be contacted after the consult.The patient portal is useless for communication with anyone including your provider. I was told finally after trying to get it to work and texting for help that you cant reach your provider this way at all. Not sure why the option to send a message exists if it really doesnt actually work.This is one of the only clinics in town that accepts insurance for ADHD testing which of course means its busy. When youre already dealing with a lot for and with your child its very frustrating to have a hard time with communication.

Absolutely awful. They are the least responsive and communicative practice Ive ever been to. Good luck getting refills as they freely prescribe medications that arent even available and do nothing to help the situation as you sit there with adverse side effects after being off of them. Highly irresponsible and clearly have a lot of kinks to work out with the way they communicate and handle their patients. For the amount of money we pay for healthcare in the United States this is simply unacceptable behavior.

This facility will not answer phone calls or texts. I have been double charged for services received at the same time due to unbundling billing codes which is in fact medical fraud. I have been ignored when trying to get refills on my medication that causes life-threatening withdrawal symptoms if I miss doses frequently. They will not inform you when your visits are no longer automatically charged to your card on file they will just continue to tally debt then offer you a discount to pay in full for an outrageous amount. This facility is a farce and should be avoided at all costs.

The doctor I met with was very nice. However it is almost impossible to get in touch with anyone. I have tried to text and call at all hours of the day with no success. I understand there is a high demand currently so I was patient waiting 6 months for an appointment. However after that appointment I never heard from them again. And not responding to patients TIME SENSITIVE questions is unacceptable. Save yourself the trouble go absolutely anywhere else.

Dr. Phum and her staff are wonderful. She listened to all of our concerns and asked in-depth questions to be able to learn more about my child. She is very patient also. She went over her evaluation of my child and explained all the findings. We love her .
